PIA Boarding gate close Policy

I was scheduled to fly from Islamabad to Heathrow PK-785 scheduled 10:40 am. Ticket was booked confirmed and I did seat reservations online According boarding card issued by PIA Boarding gates close 15 min before departure.
I arrived at PIA counter at 10:00 am 40 min before departure. But PIA staff refused to issue boarding pass and force me change my ticket. Can any one explain if staff or boarding card is laying.
I could not board plane and flying out with amended ticket to Manchester by next flight PK701 rather then Heathrow.

As i said boarding card says boarding gate close 15 min before departure. Flight time was 10:40. I was at PIA counter 40 min before still they refused to issues boarding pass

everywhere in the world, customer is the boss but in this unique case PIA is the boss. Not to blame the staff, its not their fault. Their jobs are stable and well protected, obviously they dont need to give a damn.


I agree with Omar khan, why do you fly with PIA?? why?? i live in a gulf country. Never ever all those years i have traveled via PIA and never ever i was out of other options. National carrier my a** if you dont give a **** about ur customers, no one will give **** about you. They have the worst flight delays/cancellation record, worst airport management, worse in flight services and guess what they also have the highest fares.

I think they stop issuing boarding passes 45min before flight
Boarding gate closes 15min before flight ( They are my thoughts only )

Apart from all the failure of PIA, even if you are travelling on Etihad or Emirates, they will not give you the boarding pass 40 min before the flight departure time.
All other airlines have online Checkin Option and then there is still an option to get a boarding pass. But PIA doesnt have a online Check-In System.

Please dont mix Online Checkin and PIA Seat reservation. Both are different things. Well what i will say PIA was right in your case. Usually boarding counter closes an hour before and boarding to flight closes 20 min before as per their documents.

I have flown this flight many times and I am afraid on this occasion the fault lies with you. I think you have misunderstood the difference between seat allocation that you did online and online check in. As far as I am aware, PIA do not offer online check in facility at the moment and even the airlines that do (Emirates, Qatar etc) require you to be there at least 90 minutes before departure time. So for you to turn up just 40 minutes before the departure I am afraid you can't blame any one but yourself as gates close around 30 minutes before take off. This does not give you enough time to go through all checks, and for your luggage to get through. Lesson for next time: please be at the airport at least 2 hours before scheduled time of departure........unless you are Rahman Malik! :)

but the flight is/was probably 3 hours late itself... so yea... lolz

sorry to hear about this but my friend for international flights u have to be at the port 3-4 hours before departure time, i know it sucks, but what can you do, PIA humain hamari destinations peh zinda pohancha deti hai, bari baat hai... :biggthumpup:

You must have luggage to book on the plane other than the hand carry, thats the only reason you were not issued the boarding pass because the luggage that has to go inside the luggage compartment of plane is finalized atleast an hour before the scheduled departure ... yes a person with just a hand carry would always be allowed even if he reaches 30-40 mins before the departure

thats why its always conveyed by the airlines to atleast come 3 hrs before the scheduled time to complete the security checks , immigration counters and finally luggage deposit to be booked inside the plane

PIA staff did the right thing..... any international flight closes its Check-in counter before opening boarding which is usually 1 hour or 45 min earlier..... you are confusing boarding gate closure with issuance of boarding pass. PIA denied you of issuing biarding pass at check in counter ..... it was not gate closure...... i think they did the right thing..... one must reach the check in counter at least one hour before.

Brother you have mixed up things, when u do online check in, it will allow you to be at airport 90 mint before the departure. Normally pax go to airport 3 hours before the departure but if u check in online then u can go 90 mints before the departure. Boarding gates close before the departure means even if u check in at airport and u r done with ur luggage, immigration and security then u need to be at the allocated gate to BOARD the aircraft OTHERWISE THE BOARDING GATES CLOSE 15 MIN BEFORE DEPARTURE. So its not PIA fault, its ur fault how can u imagine tht u can go to the airport 15 min before the departure of INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT. Brother it wont happen even in domestic flight...!
