I will NOT be surprised if that's the case. When N league picked him as he was very low in ranking and modest education but FINAL NOD came from US as you have to listen to this clip to get the full picture. They only appoint someone who they can fully control (most of the time these people get groomed when they are on training in US etc). Few have risen up like NEO but they were dispatched home. Hameed Gul accepted that reality and NEVER EVER went back to GHQ.

That's the whole point of having their trump card in there in the form of Army chief to keep it off key enough to never let it succeed (it may appear that victory is near and we are about to be free and BOOM someone within collapses all hope) Just like MATRIX or Manchurian candidate. IT WILL TAKE SOME HERCULIAN COMBINED ALL OUT ASSAULT ON THIS SYSTEM TO MOVE ON TO THE OTHER SIDE BECAUSE WE ARE PLAYING BY THEIR RULES! YOU HAVE TO END IT TO START A NEW BEGINNING!
