This is a huge amount compared to the fact that Rs 8 billion was our total budget allocated for Social Welfare and Rs 80 billion was ourtotal federal budget for Education in year2013. How to eradicate these loses and give this amount to education, health and development????????
1. Privatization
2. Create a commission: (beyond political interference) which will conduct interviews and select CEO's for these companies (just like in Malaysia) and as suggested by PTI
1. Privatization:
It was studied that in last tenure of PMLn, more than 90% of the companies that got privatized were closed immediately after their sale out. Reason? The amount for which they were sold out was so less that even the land that was occupied by those companies was more expensive than the highest bidding offer, so private companies bought these institutions and then closed them immediately getting hold of the land. Reason for such a low bidding rates was since these government companies were bearing so much loses, no one was willing to buy them.
2. Create Commission:
This is the best possible solution, successfully taking place in Malaysia and Turkey. Present government of PMLn should abolish it's policy of employing it's blue eyed people (recent example of MD PIA) without going through any due process. There should be a well defined procedure to select someone for the post of CEO, and that procedure should be independent of political interference. Not like what PMLn does, one fine morning, without any procedures and interviews, you read in a newspaper that a person has been appointed as the new MD of PIA because that person mediated Nawaz Sharif's exile during the military coup. What nonsensical way of selecting a CEO.
