Pakistan should not have taken aid from India.
But one can expect this from the current beyghairats in the gov, especially Shah Mahmood Qureshi. He is enjoying the spotlight that is at expense of sympathy for the hungry and impoverished flood victims of Pakistan[who don't have food to eat or shelter lo live in] which off course he has no concern of. An indian on news website commented after this report that "Beggar can't be choosers", another one wrote "Why are giving milk to the snakes, Indian govt. should've helped its own people in Leh and adjoining areas".

I am sure India will increase the aid on offer. The initial offers from all countries were low. I don't think it was a feeler. As the damage assesments come in help from all quarters is increasing. More important than the aid is the trade that will be needed to sustain the Pakistani cotton industry with Indias bumper cotton crop. Lahore's bazars have for years been selling Indian vegetables, that trend is likely to pick up even more with the destruction of some prime vegetable growing areas in Pakistan.

India can certainly help a lot with low priced medicines. Neighbours are only as good or bad as we are ourselves. Lets hope both Pakistan and India can learn to behave like adult members of the commity of nations.

Hahaha.... India won't give anything not even cash, only food aid like wheat. Cotton prices on International market are to remain higher, until cotton harvest in USA. Although India wont trade cotton that is beneficial in anyway to Pakistan but at present they like any other country would enjoy better prices in international markets due to PAk cotton been swept away. 2 days back, India dumped 60,000 cusecs in Ravi that flooded border areas like Kasur, most probably to aggravate the already unfortunate situation which PAkistanis' are fighting it out. India has yet to revoke non-tariff barriers that it has imposed since 1980s, so cheap medicine and cheap vegetables are kind of a long shot.
I'd like to commend your wishful thinking, but PAkistanis are little smarter than that.

Pakistan PM defends decision to accept aid from India

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday defended the Pakistan government's decision to accept aid for flood victims from India, saying those opposed to the move should give reasons for their stance.

"I would like to ask the critics of India's aid on what ground we should refuse it. It will be a narrow approach if we refuse aid from India," Gilani said while talking to reporters.

Pakistan on Friday accepted India's offer to provide $5 million for the victims of the devastating floods that have swept the country. The move has been criticised by some politicians, who linked the matter to the ongoing protests in Jammu and Kashmir.

Gilani said, "Would it not be a contrast if we refused the aid? On the one hand, we are stressing on the resumption of dialogue with India and on the other, we refuse its aid. We should come out of this approach and give a strong image to Pakistan."

He said he was chairing a high-level meeting when he was informed about India's offer to provide aid. "I told my foreign minister to thank his Indian counterpart for the aid," he said.

Gilani noted that both Pakistanis and Indians had collected funds for the flood-affected people. Pakistan has received a tremendous response from the world community in response to its call for aid for the flood victims and the government has proposed an independent council to oversee the transparent spending of funds, he said.

"The international community trusted us and that is why such huge aid is pouring in," he said.

Finally sanity prevailed, for those who have been opposed to this kind gesture by India have not suffered displacement or hunger which is why they feel so patriotic that accepting aid is a an insult to their national narrative. Please skip three meals a day and then try to empathize with those who have virtually lost their livelihood. The Indian assistance is commendable and as a civilized nation we need to express our gratitude.

The fact is, we Pakistanis have no self respect anymore, we have become a begger nation. Our leadership has no direction no targets, their only effort is to go on foreign trips for begging just like the baees khandani beggers who usually get into buses and trains to collect donations in the name of mosque construction but that mosque construction never completes.

Pakistan to accept Indian aid only through UN
FO official says Islamabad wont accept $5m from New Delhi directly

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan would accept $5 million aid offered by India for flood victims only through the United Nations, officials said on Saturday. The development came a day after Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced in New York that Pakistan had accepted the Indian aid.
However, officials in the Foreign Office revealed that the final decision was yet to be taken. We have seen the foreign ministers statement but there is no formal decision yet, a foreign ministry official told The Express Tribune, requesting anonymity. The official said Pakistan was unlikely to accept the Indian aid directly due to strained relations between the neighbours.
Last month, foreign ministers from the two countries met in Islamabad but failed to agree on a roadmap to resume the peace process suspended by New Delhi following the Mumbai attacks of November 2008.
We have told the Indians that Pakistan has no problem in accepting the aid but it should come through the United Nations, the official added.
Pakistan has been under pressure from the US to accept the Indian aid, a gesture that can help two rivals overcome differences. Pakistan had accepted Indian aid directly after the 2005 earthquake that had killed over 80,000 people.
However, Pak-India relations at that time were improving as they had launched, what they called, irreversible composite dialogue process in early 2004.
It has been learnt that the government has also sought Pakistan Armys input on whether or not to accept the Indian offer. Military spokesperson Maj-Gen Athar Abbas told The Express Tribune that it was up to the government to accept or reject the Indian aid.
But officials disclosed that the military establishment was of the opinion that Indian financial assistance should come through the United Nations.
