AL-E-IMRAN Verse 7

He it is Who has revealed the Book to you; some of its verses are decisive, they are the basis of the Book, and others are allegorical; then as for those in whose hearts there is perversity they follow the part of it which is allegorical, seeking to mislead and seeking to give it (their own) interpretation. but none knows its interpretation except Allah, and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord; and none do mind except those having understanding.

This is the verse that I thought about for a long time or it compelled me to think for a few months and I like to share my thoughts and perhaps you can share your thoughts with me.

There are certain revelations that are very clear in this verse:

Those who are firmly rooted in knowledge may not benefit from the Holly Koran without having understanding or those whose are rooted in knowledge may not be person/s of understanding.

Understanding is a siphon between the Devine Guidance and the seeker whose is rooted in knowledge.

Having understanding is a prerequisite to the Devine Guidance.

Following the verses of the Holly Koran and believing in them must be for the right reasons.

Several questions came to my mind:

First question is what makes a person the person of knowledge and how many people believe that they are persons of knowledge? Are there any who will say no to the question when asked if they were person of knowledge?

In my opinion knowledge is acquired over time by those who have some degree of patience, tolerance and have gained experience from their own and others mistakes and use reason, logic and rationale when making decision. Being such a person is not enough to benefit from the Holly Koran. What is the additional element required that makes a person of knowledge to a person of understanding as well?

Second question is a lot important one, who is the person of understanding?

I have conducted an experiment and asked over two hundred people if they were person of understanding including those whom I believed were not and I am yet to find one who responded by no it was yes each and every time. Perhaps all of you should experiment with this starting with yourself, as I did, and see what the answer is.

When I asked my self the same question, after carefully thinking for a while, my answer was that I did not know therefore I must know weather I was or not and this question remained in my mind for many months and to my surprise I discovered that I was not a person of understanding. In my opinion knowing what I lack is gaining what I need and I hope very soon I will be a man of understanding fulfilling the prerequisite to guidance. I also believe that a vast majority of public is not one of understanding.

After thinking for a long time I came to a very simple but complex conclusion that if you stopped at this verse and asked yourself weather you were a person of understanding or not then you probably are, if not then you are definitely not. I Just wonder how many of you stopped and asked yourselves.

I remember a saying by the Great Iqball, I think: Khud ko Kaffir Janna Mainay, Log Muslmaan sumej bathay.

I wonder if knowing the kafir in you is the key to understanding

Thank you for joining and your input is most welcomed and appreciated.

"Maloomum shud ke haech maloom na shud".

Islam is the culmination of all the faiths and reaffirmation of the previous scriptures and revealed knowledge of all aspects of life, temporal as well as metaphysical (ilme gaib) through Prophet Mohammed SAW).

The great Muslim poet and a philosopher, Allama Iqbal said, Though natural science can produce a verifiable data about 'matter, life and mind' but it generates a sectional view of Reality. He then demarcates the limitations of natural sciences: the moment you ask the question how matter, life and mind are mutually related, you begin to see the sectional character of the various sciences that deal with them and the inability of those sciences, taken singly, to furnish a complete answer to your question.

The discoveries of Newton in the sphere of matter and those of Darwin in the sphere of natural history discover a mechanism working from beyond time zero. All problems, it was believed were really the problem of Physics, Energy, micro Biology, physiology and atoms with the properties self-existing in them, could explain everything including life itself, thought, will and feeling. The concept of science and mechanism is a purely physical concept claimed to be the all-embracing explanation of Nature but it is not true. Powerful telescopes, electron microscopes, laser beams are not the end of that can see and exists in the universe but the Reality will remain beyond the reach of man imagination and knowledge, and that is the demarcation line between human achievement and his limitation of acquired knowledge. Chemistry can describe how water may be turned into steam power but not how its elements came into existence. Hydrogen and Oxygen did not come into existence by a magic wand and their right proportion makes water to sustain life on the earth is no coincidence. Every essential was present in the universe before the 'Man'appeared on the earth.

While scientists can describe biological and physiological aspects of a human body but it is not concerned and that is not its aim to discover the metaphysical, soul (Ruh), mind and spirit because it is beyond its realm. Only, Allah (SUT) has the Ultimate Knowledge of all things living, visible and invisible.

While scientists can describe biological and physiological aspects of a human body but it is not concerned and that is not its aim to discover the metaphysical, soul (Ruh) and spirit because it is beyond its realm. Only, Allah (SUT) has the Ultimate Knowledge of all things living, visible and invisible. Man was created by Allah (SUT) to discover what is physical for his benefit and survival on this earth and to obey His Commandments.

Please refrain from mentioning the English word 'verse' as a substitute for the Quranic ayats. Ayat means ' nishani' and every Quranic ayat manifests the Allah SUT's nishanias of His Khalaq, Khalqeat, Wisdom, Knowledge and Magnificence.

I think the problem of realising and understanding the reality in its entirety is what the most problematic for people like us who tends to approach to this complex issue by using only the physical tools of our outer self. When you go through on the text of Holy Quran you will always found the sequence of Kitab Wal Hikmah. Kitab definitely refers to the holy word of Almighty as manifested in the corpus of Quran but have we ever ventured in the domain of this word Hikmah commonly known as Wisdom? As it is mentioned brilliantly in the exegete tract of that verse by Br. Taul that Mutashabihat (Those verses of Holy Quran who are not openly established in their meanings by The Almighty for some specific reasons) verses are the ones which require proper deliberation, reflection and recollection of those men only who have well grooved reasoning and understanding of the reality in its holistic sense.

Its like when someone spot the water of one stream in one particular place and try to examine its contents in the laboratory of its chemical properties and the bonding of its molecules, which is gathering the related information of that water but on the other side the same person neglects the source of such properties and bonds of its chemical elements. To me inquisition of the Source of the existence of material things including the animate or inanimate creatures and trying to relate them to the nature is what called the proper thought process driven by the exigency of proper knowledge and wisdom Therefore the information alone of the manifested reality does not serve the purpose here but its inner reality beyond the realms of matter space and time should be enquired by the sagacious person and that only be possible through the agency of soul & spirit of that individual guided by the Almighty Lord of all of this universe. Thats why the sages of Islam points towards the Nature, History and Self (Inner) as the perfect sources of the knowledge and to relate that knowledge for the benefits & guidance of other individuals of the world, only such valuable sages deserve to be called as The Men of understanding and possessors of true knowledge (By The Holy Quran) who tends to apply that corpus of knowledge with the divinely inspired wisdom.

@kabir fan,

your questions r interesting and very well defined ,the only thing with which I disagree is "kafir" as a key to understanding. Its love for humanity and its certain level of understanding that connects to the understanding of divine knowledge.otherwise u can't keep the balance in understanding and then in adopting it.

knowing kafir in ourself is a comparison when we recognise the base of the humanity in ourself.

Ok now let me tell you Kabir fan, or whoever you are,

Do not play this game of hide and seek, now you are aware of this fact that Indian propaganda of all kinds are prohibited, so you are playing this game,

Its fine to participate in politics, but don't try to penetrate in religion by pretending as Muslim, and trying to bring these kind of controversial materials, which are created by non-muslims.

So take this as final warning, if next time you came up with this kind of thread, you know the result.
