Adnan Khashoggi was the Uncle of Jamal and was a billionaire through dealing in Arms, including selling to Saudi. Jamal had been associated with the Royals all his life. So why the need to eliminate him.

Khashoggi was on the verge of cutting all ties with Saudi and was about to try and damage the Kingdom and the Royal family in a way as never before. His visit to the Saudi Embassy was to be his last though not in the way it turned out. He was to collect documents pertaining to his divorce, so that he could marry someone else. That was his last requirement before he "exposed" the Royal family. The evidence he allegedly had pertained to the Women of the Royal family and how badly they are treated. Alleged that Khashoggi had a thing for a Princess in childhood but it was a doomed love from the beginning. Despite warnings he refused to cooperate and hence there was only one course of action. His actions were deemed to be nothing short of treason against the Kingdom and the Family.

The above is my recollection of what I was told by a Saudi Origin "friend" in the UK, from day one of his disappearance he was adamant that Khashoggi would never be seen again
