Mars Rover Opportunity Completes Mars Mission

Oppy (2004 - 2019) outlived its brother Spirit. Nasa lost contact with Spirit in 2011 and announced on February 13 2019 that they have lost contact with Opportunity.

Its original mission was intended to be 3 months but it has been serving science since 15 years. One of their major achievement was discovery of water on mars and laying the foundation of future exploration of mars including manned missions to mars.

The constant delays in launching JWST is pissing me off. We've milked all we could with those rovers years ago, they've been just rolling around for NASA to squeeze the congress of as much as they can for future missions like Curiosity among others.

IKR but they were bruised and battered and didn't have the capacity to stream hd images. They'd long completed the tasks they were supposed to carry on. Curiosity is still going strong and it's doing it's job.
PS: I'm sad too but also glad they can now move on to other things in the pipeline.

But thats also what makes them so cool. They have outlived their expected life expectancy twice over, done what they were suppose to do and now just chilling out on Mars :cool:

Yeah landing via sky crane was cool too, but I guess with Mars gravity being so low really didn't need too powerful rockets to slow down the sky crane.
