Maryam Auranzeb's family is originally from somewhere around Murree. Her mother, Tahira Aurangzeb, was working as a nurse in Rawalpindi when she was deputed for a few days in early 90's to PM house to provide urgent care for Nawaz Sharif's mother as she had fallen sick. Her patient was very happy with her work and she continued to be called upon whenever needed. Later she (Tahira) was nominated MNA on a PMLN women seat and that political association landed her daughter, Maryam Aurangzeb, an MNA seat and a cabinet slot.
I recall this information from a discussion thread on this forum or some TV talk show.

Don't know. Something is not right. If you do individual wiki for Maryam, or Tahira, you don't see Mushahidullah listed there. Similarly, wiki on Mushahidullah does not mention Maryam or Tahira.

I don't know what your definition of merit is, but she is well educated, presentable, and is effective and vigilant at her job.

I completely agree with you that everyone is having different definition of merit. As you mentioned earlier that her Mom was given MNA seat reserved for women because she was looking after NS mom. For NS gave seat to her on merit but She would never qualified to get job in their business as a manager.
