KARACHI: Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf Sunday said the power supply has been restored to the 60 percent areas of Karachi.

Talking to Geo News, he said more electricity will be incorporated in the system by October/ November, which will help reduce load shedding-related problems.

He said that the government is working on war footing to get rid of load shedding in the country.

He said the country is still facing demand and supply gap in power generation; the government initiated many power projects which would be completed by the end of current year.

Raja Pervez said the electricity problem in Karachi has grown out of proportions, as the transformers and underground cables are quite outdated, adding, We have electricity in the system; however, the areas where water is logged, are not being supplied with power.

He said that demand of the electricity has increased during current month due to hot and humid weather.

The minister said Mangla power station will start generation electricity from July, 25, adding two power plants will start functioning in August which will incorporate 500 Megawatts in the system.
