You are right, unfortunately, we have given up the basics of our faith. I had a chance to read about the way a new Muslim came into Islam. He mentioned that he became a Muslim by studying the Quraan. He added further, saying that Muslims are such bad examples of this great Deen that he may never have had interest in it, had he met a Muslim before being guided. That is such a sad and accurate reflection of what we are.
