Pakistan is not at major risk as far as spread of Ebola virus is concerned , but to assume that some ebola virus patient can land in Pakistan is not impossible . Pakistan has a presence in for example Liberia , related to UN duties , army and police officers are posted there .Similarly in west Africa including in Ebola afflicted west african countries there is a small Pakistani origin Ahmediya community .A few Pakistani business people might still be there. Before civil war in these regions there was significant Labanese and Indian business communities .
It seems to me that too much death rate and spread of ebola to medical doctors and nurses is largely due to the fact that this virus needs complete prefabricated , temperature and oxygen supplied designed spacesuits , beds, designed to deal ICU type leaky victims , special type drips ,blood sources with central giving systems and that ordinary operation theatre like clothes and hospital traditions will not suffice . Our engineers have to design that as similar things will be needed for MERS .
MERS virus infection is more likely to spread to Pakistan than ebola .This because its epicentre is middle east and Saudia , I am not sure our health authorities have designated specialized ICU in various areas of Pakistan so that if it arrives it can be dealt with in confined space , like Ebola.
One of the best way to get ready for ebola and MERS challenge is to announce some grant for special new hospital units , possibly makeshift in trawlers but with all amenities and fittings , medical and otherwise so that disease does not spread . Like Dengue it is an engineering challenge not only medical challenge .
So what can our engineers do for us in containing these when they arrive , politicians as usual will fail In technical issues .
UK recieves both patients and visitors from world over and it has given warnings and instructions to its doctors .
There are already allegations that government is hiding Dengue figures.
