Ok...but we dont have any proof whether such lab exists or not...what makes me concerned is the pattern of quantum of all such mentioned viruses, in Pakistan...
What pattern in Pakistan? None that I see. And what data?
The one looking for patterns can claim for one in any dataset even if there is none. But oOnly through statistical analysis may reveal patterns, not the apparent data.
The same is in case of China. A couple of days back I had posted link to new strain of viruses in the last 25 years (from a WHO report). there seems no pattern.
However conspiracies have their own logic and aims; We'll keep watching such reports and reading conspiracy books about this virus in the coming decades. Politician will play into the game as well.
Pak problems are related to insufficient health infra-structure and mismanaged sanitation. Even the control of polio is very much related to mismanagement in 90's when whole programs was assigned to untrained workers and totally uncontrolled and mismanaged (that was the time when most of the countries implemented sustainable programs). Anyhow that's a different topic that why Pak failed to fully eradicate polio.while others succeeded.
It is true, in the middle of cold-war years, both US and Soviet had active biological warfare programs. Most probably some testing was done even on humans but that era is history now. Then, there was quite lack of appreciation of risk involved. Today, it is about impossible to buy an idea that scientists in US or anywhere else are engaged in such activity or will do so in future. (Although science-fiction keep spewing the theories of genome specific biological weapons and much much more.)
That said, however, all is not well. New developments in genetics, pharmaceutical research for gene modifying drugs, genetically modified crops and general fetish with designer genes may, sooner or later result in a major or fatal disaster. Now, we genuinely need to regulate and control research in genetics. Western world has somewhat restrictions, laws and state controls but Asian countries (particularly china, india and israel) badly need regulations. That's the reason western pharmaceuticals carry out such research in these countries. Hopefully, after this incident, world and especially asians will wise up to the risks involved.
More than conspiracies of warfare, the greed of the corporations, new technologies for gene modifications in modern labs and probably inevitable human error will pose a grave danger. In the case of spread of AIDS, , quite probably human error was involved in 1940-50s , which later hit humans after several decades. Better if we find solutions to these problems and enhance capacity to cope if they arise in future than for playing politics.
