Imam ul Haq's batting average in the tests is 30. His batting average in the first class matches (which are played on the flat wickets) is 34. In the Tests he has played 15 innings to score just 3 fifties and no centuries. In the first class he has played 79 innings , in which he score 4 centuries and 14 fifties.
It means in his 79 first class innings he managed to go above 50 only 18 times and rest of the 61 innings he could not even managed to get to 50.
Mind you Pakistan first class is not comparable to county cricket of England or Australian or South African first class cricket. so for him, 61 times out of 79 innings not managing even a fifty is pretty bad.
Name me one cricketer who has this bad first class record but still managed to be selected for the Test matches ?
Only thing impressive on his CricInfo page is this line

His First class batting average is 56 (155 First Class Matches).
His first class batting average is more than any other Pakistani batsman currently in the team.

We are in the middle of a test series and Pakistan's dismal test performance is being discussed everywhere.

That is a joke. He was selected in a test team on his batting performance in One Day internationals not on his first class performance where he played 44 First Class matches with an average of 34. Do you know any other Test Player who got selected with such a poor First Class performance. He has been playing First class cricket for 5 years. He started playing First class cricket since 2013. He was never a star in those 5 years of his First Class career but chosen in the test side on his performance in the limited over matches , What a joke.
By the way just a few minutes ago he has just got out at the score of 8 in the second test.
