Imran Khan and Parvez Musharraf Issue

Argonaut

Banned
This is the first time in the history of Pakistan that an ex-dictator is being tried under Article 6 of the constitution. As expected, our 'brave' commando general has conveniently suffered from heart ailment and instead of facing the court, is hiding in the hospital.

Speculation is rife that the government will allow Parvez to run abroad. This will not be unexpected given the past history of compromises of Nawaz Sharif.

But the almost complete silence of Imran Khan on this issue has been a disappointment. This issue is of critical importance for Pakistan as it is going to decide whether military holds the ultimate power in Pakistan or the law and constitution are supreme. If Parvez is sent abroad on the pretext of health treatment, it will mean that military personnel are above the law. in that case there will be no justification for giving punishment to any other criminal as well.

Imran Khan has always talked about the supremacy of constitution and equal application of law for everyone. It will be a tragedy if he keeps silent and allows a replay of Raymond Davis episode to happen. As the most influential politician in Pakistan, Imran Khan must speak up and put pressure on the government that Musharraf should be prosecuted fully as per the law and constitution of Pakistan. The government must not be allowed to compromise on application of law. Silence will indicate collusion with the government on the issue.

Let Courts and regime do its work in this regard. IK believes on Courts supremacy.

I think PML-N will let Musharaf go. Arabs interfered again in Pakistani matters. It is disgusting that a country like Saudia has so much influence oin Pakistani internal affairs. People are angry about Saudi and Khaleeji influence.

IK has already presented his stance in an interview that "He thinks that Musharraf should be punished but not executed(because the door of Army rule was open and many army generals had also done the same but they weren't even punished for it). He also said that the punishment should be example setting(to prevent other generals from doing so in future) and should not be a move to insult the army."

Yes IK should come openly for the prosecution of Mushi but you know plane is coming on monday.

I think he has said many times that law should find its course and Mushi should be punished but not hanged for his wrong doing. What else people want from him?

He had spoken on Raymond issue, what fruits his speaking brought for the country? What army wants will be followed by Noora. IK has no control on Army then why should he intervene and destroy his energy in this issue?

Imran has already explained in one of the talk shows that the decision of Musharaf's case should be done in accordance with law. However almost complete silence of Nawaz Sharif on Altaf's speech has been a disappointment. This issue is of critical importance for Pakistan as it is going to decide whether Altaf holds the ultimate power to make or break Pakistan or the law and constitution are supreme.

Imran Khan has always talked about the supremacy of constitution and equal application of law for everyone. It will be a tragedy if Nawaz Sharif keeps silent and allows a replay of 1971 episode to happen. As the most influential politician in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif must speak up and put pressure on MQM and Altaf must be prosecuted fully as per the law and constitution of Pakistan. The government must not be allowed to compromise on application of law. Silence will indicate collusion with the MQM on the issue.
