What wad the options that time?

To simply stay out of it and not sell yourself for American dollars. There would be no civil war in Afghanistan post soviet invasion, there would be no taliban, there would be no war on terror there would not be a Pakistani Taliban, there would be no thousands of Pakistani lives lost in Pakistan due to that, and billions $$$s lost, there would no import of Kalasnikov and herion culture. Afghanistan would probably be a progressive country now and not a war torn shit hole. Pakistan would not have mullahcracy shoved down its throat will all of Zia's version of Islam. AND MOST OF ALL we would not have been gifted Nawaz Sharif and clan of thieves.

There is no one to defend his stance and rule nowdays. During Zia time no one in Sindh died of starvation, but today with PPP their own people are dying in Thar. Pakistan enjoyed highest GDP during Zia time. No one is able to give concrete reasons for hating Zia either
