Robbers go on rampage in Lahore *Shining Tind*
LAHORE - Dacoits hit the Punjab capital for more than 30 times during the last 24 hours and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth millions of rupees besides four cars and nine motorcycles, police sources claimed.
Sources said that the gunmen robbed four residences located in different parts of the city and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs5.5 million at gunpoint.
According to police sources, two female bandits walked into the house of Rashid in the Defense-A police area and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth two million rupees after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
Three robbers forced their entry into the house Siddique Ullah in the Sabzazar police vicinity. The bandits held up the family members at gunpoint and made off with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs1.2million.
Gunmen forced their entry into the house of Raza in the Nishtar Colony police limits and escaped after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth Rs800000 at gunpoint. Three robbers stormed into the house of Asad in the Nolakha police area and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs700000.
Two motorcyclists held up Muhammad Abid at gunpoint near Kahir-Pull in the Batapur police area. The shopkeeper was deprived of Rs130000 and mobile phone at gunpoint.
Robbers equipped with pistols and riding on motorcycles also robbed families, motorists and passersby in the Johar Town, Sanda, Misri Shah, Mughalpura, South Cantonment, Satu Katla, Liaqatabad, Shahdara Town, Iqbal Town, Lytton Road, Ghaziabad, Gulberg, Defense-A, Ravi Road, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal police areas and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments, cellular phones and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. The police are investigating.
Unidentified thieves drover away the car of Malik Muhammad Naeem from the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police precincts on Thursday night. Malik Naeem, a staffer of The Nation, went to Karim Market for shopping along with his family and parked his vehicle at the parking lot. As he came back, he found his car stolen. The police are investigating.
Meanwhile, three cars were driven away from the limits of Ichhra, Iqbal Town and Defense-A police while 9 motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from the Nawab Town, Iqbal Town, Shahdara, Shadman, Shalimar, Garden Town, Misri Shah, South Cantonment, and Satu Katla police areas. Further investigation is underway.
