CCTV PAKISTAN- THE FUTURE
CCTV cameras are being used throughout the world for surveillance and Pakistan being one of the most devastated country lags far behind. The horrendous security condition of Pakistan is not new and has been aggravated many folds since the past few years. One of the major factors the security condition is in the current state is lack of surveillance, depleting resources and terrible and antique equipment of security departments such as police. The only way to address this issue is to take up the responsibility and devise a plan to address these issues. CCTV cameras are the need of the hour and obviously the government doesn't have the funds to fix any of the above mentioned issues.
We as a nation can do it our own. Although, it can not be done throughout the country in one go, what can be done is to build up on the initial plan and then roll it out accordingly. All this work could be done through public donation. We can start from a small area such as the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) or any area, I ll be using DHA, talk to its administration about the plan. After chalking out all the issues we can start the campaign of getting the required funds through public support especially from the local community of that particular area, in this case the residents of DHA, and the amount too would be only a few hundred rupees from each house. This could be done for two or three months to get the desired level of funds for purchase of the CCTV equipment, recruitment of patrolling guards, upgradation of present equipment, maintenance of the system and verification of every house in that area. This can then be further enhanced to speed cameras, special lanes for buses and emergency services and other possible improvements in the society.
Hotspots in each area regarding crime, snatching of cars and cellphones, could be identified, monitored and improved overtime. After successful implementation of the project, it can be rolled out to adjoining areas and then onto other cities gradually. It could be the next big thing for addressing the country's security woes. The process would be gradual but fundamental and could really turn the dynamics of our country.
