Hassan Nasir is Self-opinionated, conceited, arrogant and ignorant of Islamic history and its glorious civilization. I happened to watch this man on one of the TV shows and found his opinion ignorantly imposing and insulting to Islamic theology, jurisprudence and Islamic complete deene-hyat. Muslims scientists who were taught in the madrassas led the world in anatomy, physiology, zoology, botany, astronomy, mineralogy, physics and chemistry. They got their inspirations from studying Quran and scientic narrations. The Quran revealed to the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) 1400 years ago is not a textbook of science; it is, however, a highly scientific book. It makes numerous references to natural phenomena including the movements a backed by modern science that has astounded many of heavenly bodies and the behaviour of various creatures. These are in perfect harmony with observed realities and this is an amazing fact, the significance of which is not often underlined. In a book from its time, one can see that it makes so many claims about physical as well as spiritual matters that it would not be surprising to find errors, but the Quran is totally free from these. The Quran is also a scientific book and makes numerous references to natural phenomena including movements of heavily bodies, earth, behavior of different creatures, embryology, cosmology, geology, changing of weathers and water etc, which are astonishing accurate as discovered by science now. Allah Mian says in the Surah Al-alaq ayat 2 : "We created man from a quintessence of clay. We then place him as a sperm in place of settlement, firmly fixed, we then made the nutfa (sperm) into an aalaqah (clot), and then we changed the aalaqah into mudgah (lump ) and then we made out of that mudgah izam (bones), then we clothed the bones with lahm (flesh), then We caused him to grow and come into a being and attain definite (human) form. So blessed be Allah, the best to create (Khaliq)". I do not want to go into the details of the words used in the Quran regarding the Creator and His creation (khaliq, thaqleeq and mukhlooq,), which need as high volumes to write as the skies.
The great Islamic scholars and scientists were the products of these madrassas but few in the West talk about this fact; they civilized the whole world when especially the peoples of Europe were living in dark ages. Muslims scientist led the world in anatomy, physiology, zoology, botany, astronomy, mineralogy, physics and chemistry. The Kitab an-Nabat, Encyclopaedia Botanica of ad-Dinwari (d.895) the first in kind in six thick volumes is remarkably surpasses in erudition and extensiveness. Medicine also made extraordinary progress under the Muslims in the branches of anatomy, pharmacology, physiology, organization of hospitals and trading of doctors who were to pass examinations before allowed to practice.
The works of Razi (Rhazes), Ibn-Sina (Avicenna), Abu'l-Qasim (Abucasis) and many others remained until recently as the basis of all medical study even in the West. We Muslims know the fact that circulation of blood was also known to them, thanks to the writings of Ib- an- Nafis but how ridiculous the European credit it to William Harvey who only learnt it from the Arabs writings. Under the influence of great Muslim scientists like Khalid ibn Yazid, Jafa as sadiq and Jabir ibn Hayyan, ancient al-chemy was transformed into an exact science based on facts and capable of demonstration. Jabir also knew chemical operations of calcinations and reduction; it is he who developed also the methods of evaporation, sublimation, crystallization, etc. In mathematics, Muslims are well renowned for algebra, zero and cipher and the names of al-Khwarizmi, al-Biruni and others remain as famous as those of Euclid. Though, the Greeks knew trigonometry but credit goes to the Muslims for its discovery and advancement an in logarithm. Muslims continued with their work in the advancing science until the Mongol barbarians invasion of Baghdad in one day burnt and destroyed all libraries housing hundreds of thousands of books of knowledge gained and constructed over the centuries by the Muslim scholars and scientists. Their wholesale and loathsome massacre did not even spare the leaned and the Muslims suffered the greatest intellectual calamity and disaster in its Islamic history more barbaric than the Europeans crusaders invasions on Islam.
All laws, all religions and philosophies try to perused masses or the intermediary category to behave in a suitable manner and even offer voluntary sacrifices in order to help the poor, the destitute and those who have needs yet cannot satisfy them for no faults of their own. Islam is all embracing mode of life. Not only it prescribes belief but also the social behaviour, moreover, it occupies itself with the nicer application and functioning of its laws.
Hassan Nisar must learn about Islam before so ignorantly criticizing it on TV and in public. Another thing he must remember; he should not feel arrogant for the very little knowledge he has. If you load a donkeys with books, it does not become a scholar.
