I'm recently forced to move onto a mac for work reasons.

Certainly there is a learning curve that I'm learning through youtube etc.

Now the issue is free softwares :P There are anything and everything available on for windows...even the paid apps you can find easily..

Are there any forums or sites where I can find free softwares likes photoshop etc? Is it even possible to install pirated stuff on mac??

Any help would be appreciated :)

you can download any apps from www.piratebay.org

Try the best torrent site
www.kat.ph
kickassunblock.net
Or
www.filehippo.com
www.softpedia.com

use the following link to search Mac or Mac software...

http://torrentz.eu/search?f=mac+software

Or you can use app store ;)

how do we make sure, we are not downloading a malware or a virus? i wouldn't make this thread, If i wanted to go with the app store ;)

on torrentz.eu, you will see a green box with a tick with all verified torrents... then choose the link with most seeds n peers...

For MAC you have to search a lot on the web as a direct free alternative is not always easy to find. I had to spend a lot of time to search for few apps when I switched to Mac.

Sometimes, finding apps becomes even more difficult if you are using the latest OS (mountain Lion) but for older OS like (Lion or Snow Leopard) you might find compatible software fairly easily.

If you want to avoid torrents (which are safe if you use reliable sites) following website is very useful:

http://appdl.net

One more thing, like .exe files in windows, Mac uses .dmg

Thank you that is very helpful

i just got my mac yesterday. so i guess it has the latest operating system. does that mean, I can't get none of the pirated stuff for it?

I am a mac user since 1990. If you want to get mac software for free, join iptorrents.com. It is a private tracker and has almost every software in appstore and big ones like photoshop, office for mac, and other big ones like autocad!

You can import pictures from your iPhone by using Preview(default Mac OS Photo Viewer) in any folder and then do whatever you want.. i use both, windows and mac OS... Mac OS is much better than windows...
