83% Pakistanis support PM debate before election: Survey

According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority (83%) of Pakistanis support the idea of “Prime Minister” Debate, on the pattern of “Presidential debate”, before elections on TV Channels.


A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In many countries before elections, candidates for Prime Minister discuss their plans and agendas for the country on live TV channels (if they win the elections) and respond to the questions from public and opposition. Kindly tell us that in your opinion should there be such programs on Pakistani TV channels?” Responding to this, 83% said yes while 15% said no. However, 2% did not give a view.


The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2632 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during December 03 to 10 December.

As a matter of fact, Pakistan Gallup is not affiliated with US-Gallup at all . It is confirmed by US Gallup that they do not have any affiliations with any Gallup in Pakistan. This survey is not about the popularity of any Party or Politician and therefore does not matter which firm has conducted this survey. This survey is about the ability of a leader to extempore reply the difficult questions without any difficulty. show his or her understanding of current issues Pakistan is facing, his/her grasp of international affairs, Pakistan's role in International politics and many other issues. This kind of debate tells how capable a leader is and who should they choose. This debate is all about helping people elect their leader on the basis of their various qualities. So this debate should be supported rather than criticized pointing to the credibility of firm which is carrying out this survey.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding a debate already and I think this is the ideal time to organize such a thing. I definitely want to see something like this. It would give all political parties an opportunity to present their point of view and im damn sure IK would just crush all other parties. in fact IK should give an open invitation specially to NS. there is not the slightest of chance that NS would even think about doing that but if somehow Allah makes that happen im sure IK would InshAllah come out as a winner. lets try and spread this and may be under pressure noora might agree to it.

There is a video circulating on FB about NS. When a young reporter asked Mian sb when are you going to resign for assemblies? NS replied:

'asking his fellow party worker 'Ab bhi kuch bolain ya sab kuch mujhe hi bolna he.... live tu nahi jaraha :)'
