Deforestation is the major cause. Global warming is caused by cutting of trees, by decreasing the area under vegetation, by increase in greenhouse gas emissions etc.

Too many people living in relatively small area
Too many multi story buildings
Too much heat produced by burning gas in domestic and industrial areas
Too many air conditioning
Too many vehicles etc

There should be forestation in malir river starting from beyond malir all the way to the sea with local plants and give it park status, , for that they need make a reservoir at upstream, and very important stop DHA and other land grabbers encroaching.

What is increase of average temperature in Karachi in the last 2-3 decade.

Previous couple of heat wave phenomenon were not local to Karachi and had nothing to do with deforestation or GW having very different causes.

How will one directly link directly global warming to local Karachi heat - dont know? Is there some ocean warming data to suggest so - if anyone knows?

You are right..The point I was making was that the globe is following a set pattern of warming/cooling for a long long time and overall there are not much changes... It is not true that the globe started to warm up extra-ordinarily as some are saying. There are stats to prove it if you care to look.

No argument about the impacts of concrete, roads, high-rise and Industrial flumes as they will alter wind patterns and heat entrapment. Dark surfaces absorb and store sun radiation affecting near surface temperatures and releasing it during night to affect the winds.
But how much heat is generated by domestic burning or day-time air conditioning vs. the total amount of sun energy during the day to produce a significant effect on average temperatures! Any data about these two factors though flumes released by nighttime air-conditioning may have some effect altering the winds
