10 things I love about Pakistani Food

We Pakistanis love eating! Everything we do is associated with eating.


  • When we go out to someones place, we eat
  • When we hang out with friends, we eat
  • Weddings are all about khana kab khulay ga
  • You stay in and watch a movie, you order food or get a take out
  • You visit family, you eat

And why not?! Our food is AMAZING! I love Pakistani cuisine. Its the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!!!

Okay so Im a bit biased

Here are 10 things I love about Pakistani food:


  1. We cook everything Be it an animal or a plant (as long as its halal), were not going to let it go to waste! My in-laws cook some weird plant leaves that grow in their back yard and call it bhaaji. My mothers begin drooling at the very mention of gurday or kapooray.
  2. Our spices Thats where the taste is man! Whats food with no spices? People say Pakistani food is too spicy. I say Hell YES! Its meant to be. Thats our taste people! Pakistanis were born to fry our tongues and later burn our.
  3. The Roti Chapati, Plain nan, laal Roti, Khameeri rote, til wali roti, sheermal, taaftan, puri, kachori, paratha, paratha in ghee, you name it we love it!
  4. The Tarka The final splash of oil and fried spices. It enhances the flavor of ordinary foods and takes them to the next level. Just imagine **** daal or chanay ki daal without the tarkaboring!
  5. Nihari Need I say more? I recently had the chance to try Indian Niharitasted like soup! We make nihari like it should be made hot! Want to make nihari better? Make it hotter!
  6. The BBQ The rest of the world makes BBQ for the meat. We Pakistanis make BBQ for the masala! Soft, tender pieces of meat in amazing mouthwatering, spicy masala will definitely be on my menu even in heaven!
  7. The Tea I dont care where tea comes from, we prepare it better than anyone! No, Mr. Middle-East-Return! Marawaris do not make good tea! You just dont have a better standard to compare to over there. There is NO comparison whatsoever to our Pathan Bhaisdoodh patti!

Three more reasons and Im going to make a run for the nearest dhabba!


  1. Mithai Just like our use of spices, we are accused of having very sweet sweets. Whats the point of sweets if they arent sweet?! Dont like sweets? Dont eat them! Leave me to smack on my bowl of cham chams and rabri!
  2. Pakola The ultimate drink! And the best thing is that its Pakistani to the roots! Forget the black and white, just give me the green anytime!
  3. Halwa puri ka nashta Since I havent mentioned anything healthy and wholesome on this list so far why start now?! Why is Pakistani cuisine so awesome? Two words Halwa Puri!

All tastes and flavours can be managed at home............just put carefully pure masalas and not ready made curries......and give due time to cook.............

We don't call it bhaaji. Its sabzi. Also, we Pakistani's don't cook every other plant.


Paratha sirf Ghee wala hota hai. Oil wala sirf drama.

Nihari Kahan Ki? Agar you have adeed Lahore, Rwp Nihari, then you haven't eaten actual Nihari
(In even Karachi. The best one (Tried and tasted with challenge) is Javed Nihari, Rest are so so ).

Lahore Ka Kunna Gosht kion nahin add kiya, with Hareesa and Parey wali lassi (Agar ap ney Yeh nahin khaye, tu Ap Kabhi Lahore nahin gaye).

And I don't know, but i never liked Pakola. Its yakh since the day of its inception.

woh tu gujrati mein bhi kehtay hai (chiniot waley bhi kehtay hai) per overall , through out pakistan. sabzi he kehtay hian.

Jaisay, Chapra hotel hota hai. Dhabba nahin. Dhabba pure INdian word hai, jo films ki through Paksitan me introduce ho gye hai.

Karachi sey Khayber taak. Jitni bhi Highways hain, wahan koi bhi dukhtar-e-millat khana nahin pakatai. saab cook Sher Jawana-e-Pakistan he hotey hain.

Moong ki Daal.
Chana Daal.
Karahai (All flavors)
Paratha (Paart Wala, Saada, Chitrali aur Tandori)
Briyani
Pillao
Namkeen Gosht
Roosh
Qabuli Palao
Paneer Palak
Mix sabzi

Saab sey behtareen milta hai :)

By the way, Chai aur Qehwa , Kafi mukhtalif aur zaiqa daar hotey hain, ghareelo Pakwaan sey.

yeah but the food gets infused with the taste of the olive oil and it can be odd for someone who is trying it for the first time....but I agree, if you are used to the taste of olive oil, it tastes just as good..
