I have criticized khan sahab a lot especially after he appointed mr tarin but the fact of the matter is that he found pakistan in a very dire economical state. Extreme current account deficit , reserves below 10 billion dollars and repayment in excess of 13 billion dollars per year. The previous governments policies had sent the textile industry packing and contracts with Ipps made sure that pakistans circular debt kept increasing. Pakistan had no room to breathe. Pakistan had no dollars in the account to stabilize the exchange rate. The exports in dollars had declined instead of increasing.
2013-18 was the real reason pakistan fell behind and bangladesh was the main beneficiary of that. If in those years pakistans export had increased only by 4 dollars we wouldnt be seeing this today.

arifkarim Mufta is not Joking ,however, devaluation was due Asad Umar delaying IMF according Shaukat Tarin. On Wednesday, Shaukat Tarin said in Kashaif Abasi Show said that, Devaluation is happen due to Inflation, if we do not stop Inflation than Rupee will REER will devalue continuously. He asked why there is no impact of devaluation on export and import are increasing? Shaukat Tarin said devolution of the currency in Pakistan never increased export or decrease import. This Devaluation is due to Inflation and Management issue from the government side. Please see the Show on Ary to get best Information. He said that we do not have choice on Taxes, as Import supports growth that we have allowed it so that People could get Jobs. Moreover, He said TERF purchasing will impact in 2023 not now not one bit right now.

Below 2011-2012 export figures. Our GDP to Export ratio has fallen the worst ever in 2021 due to import.
