  • Toyota, BYD to develop electric vehicles with 44 plants around the world, said Pakistan Electric Vehicles & Parts Manufacturers General Secretary.

  • Adviser to PM on climate change Malik Amin Aslam has said electric vehicles will initially reduce import bill by $2bn per annum.

BYD, the Chinese multinational company and world's largest electric vehicles manufacturer with turnover of $250 billion, is all set to enter Pakistan.

The development was announced by Pakistan Electric Vehicles & Parts Manufacturers and Traders Association (PEVPMTA) General Secretary Shaukat Qureshi while talking to local media.

“Toyota, the world auto giant, for the first time signed an agreement on November 7, 2019, to develop Electric Vehicles with BYD, the world's largest electric vehicles manufacturer, with 44 plants around the globe employing 250,000 personals, with turnover of $250 billion," he said. “Scenario will definitely change in Pakistan as well, with the Japanese companies roll out their models by 2024," he added.

Qureshi said that the country's auto sector was totally dominated by the Japanese brands, which had yet to come up with a comprehensive response towards EV and its technology. It is pertinent to inform that Pakistan auto sector is dominated by three Japanese automakers i.e. Suzuki, Toyota and Honda.

Meanwhile, Adviser to Prime Minister on climate change Malik Amin Aslam has said that electric vehicles will initially reduce import bill by US$2 billion per annum. Terming EV 2019 as best policy in the region, he said that the policy, which had been promulgated recently, would provide cheap mode of transportation, reduction in carbon emission and decrease import bill.

The advisor added that the government would issue SROs related to EV policy, 2019, shortly in order to commence the process of introducing EV in the country.

Thank you once again Honorable prime minister Imran khan. Trust in your leadership is recognized around the world by leading corporations and conglomerates.

Your vision for Pakistan and it’s bright future is breathtaking. We will remain patient behind your leadership and the direction you have taken as long as it takes to get Pakistan to it’s ultimate potential.

Gober media will continue to build Gober mountains. Mental slaves in Pakistan will remain mental slaves regardless of what you achieve.

In time in sha Allah we will have mental institution to deal with mental slaves of our nation, but make this your last priority, mental slaves need to dwell in their mental slavery for as long as possible.

the question is, would Pakistan have enough uninterrupted electricity to actually support daily charging of hundreds of thousands of power hogging EVs. Sounds great when you read about it but with the loadshedding going on round the year.....well! you can imagine what's gona happen.

As vehicles become electrified, it will reduce import bill of oil. This will lead to increase foreign reserves and help speed up payoff of loans. Money in hand can be used to increase efficiency in electric grid.

But the number one issue is paying taxes by the masses.

number one issue is governance....the people sitting around imran khan are actually his antithesis except for a handful of ministers like murad saeed and omar ayub.
