We started with nothing in 1947 except hope and water streams which came from enemy territory .
Today we are one of the most powerful countries amongst Islamic world , we have repeatedly balanced a neighbour who is four times our size and extremely hostile militarily , we at one time defeated the greatest atheistic empire (USSR) the world had ever seen with western and Islamic help in atleast one region , we are numerous we are a nation of brave followers of Muhammmed PBUH , some thing which is what this is all about . Our preislamic past of being rajputs , jats , pashtoons , baluchis , and other martial tribes just adds to our vigour for our ideals.
Our adventure refuses to end , the world wants our help , we are invited in Yemen , we are invited in UN peace missions , we are charged wrongly for keeping terrorists yet world is afraid to raid us.
Our main problem is that while we handled the macros , we cannot handle micros like which form of government suits us ? how to handle discrimination in society between poor and rich ? , how to ensure sanctity of right of property , of honour or life . We have justices like Khosa who did much via his past two landmark judgements to help property Qabza groups and helped in making case law that helps criminals to get bails but they are our hero . I can quote those two judgements.
May be it is time we read how Muslims were the master of the world for two and a half times spanning over almost six hundred years , what were their policies ? .
Is monarchial system bad ? Is capitalism friendly system bad ? Is western democracy model really of much use ? Is anglosaxon law really apt ? Is western rise due to technology and scholar ship and organized system or due to democracy which we assume ? Is humanity going to really benefit from commercializing women and use them as main work force in the end ? Would we be helping young and old by supporting traditional family system or by supporting gay marriages , lewdness , and hyping transsexuals ? Will we get rich by exporting our delicious mangoes and kinnos or by making some high tech things ? Will we benefit from borrowing from China in the end ? Do we stand to benefit from West at current terms and conditions limiting our cultural directions ?
I saw imran khan telling his usual long stories and diatribe against Nawaz , this is inapt for independence day, today is the day of celebration of what we have and not what of sadness what we do not have.
My greatest fear is that Imran -Nawaz clash is turning into a mega Punjabi pashtoon street armed clash , and meanwhile the duo of Sindh chief minister and senate chairman Raza Rabbani are stealthily moving ahead with Sheikh Mujib like agenda for Sindh in the name of provincial autonomy . Sindh has stopped NAB from operating in Sindh , and no PTI man spoke about it .
Any way today is the day of rejoicing and no more .
