Sarfraz handed four-match suspension by ICC for racial comments

JOHANNESBURG: Pakistan's skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has been suspended by the ICC for four international matches under the cricket governing body's anti-racism code, PCB sources confided to Geo News Sunday.

Sarfraz was caught on stump mics passing an offensive taunt to Andile during the 37th over of South Africa’s chase in the second ODI on Tuesday, saying in Urdu: "Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye hai aaj?” which translates to, "Hey black guy, where's your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?"

The ICC match referee had summoned the Pakistani skipper and questioned him over the matter.

On Friday before the third ODI, Sarfraz extended an apology to South African cricketer in person, after his racial comment landed him in trouble.


Earlier on Jan 23, he had issued a statement on social media accepting his mistake and sought pardon from the cricket fans.

Sarfaraz Ahmed should be given some time to give him a rest. He is frustrated and under extreme pressure. Its really not a good sign for a captain. Now, Pakistan must look for an alternative.

Look at Sirfraz, As soon as the mic is put next to his face he would start with Bismillah, When he achieves a milestone he quickly goes in sijdah even in the ground in front of God almighty.

But when gets frustrated by someone's performance who has a dark skin then he is very quick to abuse him with a racial taunt (Reminding him how unlucky he is to be given black skin by the God Almighty) and of course in our culture abuse is incomplete without mentioning the other person's mother.

I am happy..at least next four matches.. Pakistan will perform well...Sarfraz totally unfit for Captaincy..He only remained captain becoz of CT win..What remarks he gave with knowledge that stumps cameras and Mic always on. Showed his Mental level.while these type of words we commonly used in daily life..like Katha engraiz..Puppo bacha..Kaloo..Chikna etc..
But in international level doing that..Sarfraz deserve more than that.

Racist Remarks should not be tolerated and the ban is good .... but to be honest he actually gave him a compliment in Pakistani style .... except for the word "Kaalay" rest is a compliment to his good batting .and thats why i think he was quickly forgiven by the team south africa as well... In Pakistan its in our culture to compliment like this, not saying that is right, for example we would normally say

• Abbay Kaddu aj to bara smart lag raha hai ....
• teeli bari jaan hai tujh main
• kalu teri phurtian
• gittak bara tez hai tu

what if he had said the same thing to a white guy replacing "Abbay Goray" not sure if that would be classified as a racist remark ....

Sarfaraz sledges in Urdu and we know apart from India and Afghanistan non of the international understand Urdu,so what was the point sledging South African player in Urdu. The duffer imposed 4 matches ban on himself in vain.

Very well said. Your comments summarized Pakistani nation very well who just know how to say good things but their actions are totally opposite. No wonder hur jagay zaleel ho rahey hain. Pakistani nation has no credit-ability in the world.No one trust us on international level because of our actions and antiquates.
