No benefit unless a law is there which bars journalists from taking money from someone..

So if a journalist is receiving a gift from Maryam for whatever reason, he will show it to the authorities.. and then there is no law that says that making up stories to make the giver happy in exchange of the gift received is called bribe and is punishable by law..

Journalists case is different than a police officer (or any other public officer). A public officer when giving service to public can't expect anything in return from a member of the public. It is called bribe in the law.. A journalist taking gifts from someone and writing a piece of crap in a newspaper can't be classified under bribery definition..
