The International Cricket Council (ICC) has denied BCCI’s plea to allow former India captain MS Dhoni to continue to wear his ‘insignia’ gloves for the remainder of the ongoing World Cup in England. ICC confirmed that the logo displayed on Dhoni's gloves is an infringement of the laws of the game.
During the June 5 World Cup game against South Africa in Southampton, MS Dhoni was seen wearing green-coloured wicket-keeping gloves that had a white-winged dagger insignia. This winged dagger is part of the 'Balidaan' insignia that is sported by the men of the Special Forces.
However, Dhoni faced mixed responses to the gloves as BCCI sent out a formal appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to allow Dhoni to wear the gloves for the remainder of the World Cup. In reply to that, the ICC has confirmed that the logo displayed on Dhoni's wicketkeeping gloves in India's first World Cup match against South Africa is an infringement of the laws of the game.
"The ICC has responded to the BCCI to confirm the logo displayed by MS Dhoni in the previous match is not permitted to be worn on his wicket-keeping gloves at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019.
"The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment. In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves," the cricket governing body said in a statement on Friday (June 7).
The international body’s rules and regulations prohibit individual messages and logos on sporting gear and attire during any ICC event. In addition to that, it is also an infringement of the regulations regarding the content allowed to be displayed specifically on wicket-keeping gloves.

بھارتی بورڈ کے ایک عہدے دار ونود رائے کا کہنا ہے کہ دھونی کے گلوز پر نشان آرمی کا ہے اور نہ ہی اس کا کمرشل مقصد کے لیے استعمال کیا گیا ہے تاہم گزشتہ روز آئی سی سی نے اپنی پریس ریلیز میں یہ واضح کردیا کہ قواعد و ضوابط کے تحت مذہبی، سیاسی اور لسانی تعصب کو ہوا دینے والی چیزوں کا کٹ، بیٹ اور گلوز پر استعمال نہیں کیاجاسکتا۔
آئی سی سی کا واضح موقف سامنے آنے کے بعد دھونی نے بی سی سی آئی حکم کو بتا دیا ہے کہ وہ اس تنازع کو مزید ہوا نہیں دینا چاہتے اور قواعد و ضوابط کی پابندی کریں گے۔
یاد رہے کہ بھارتی ٹیم نے رواں سال 8 مارچ کو پلوامہ واقعہ کو بنیاد بناکر فوجی ٹوپیاں پہن کر میچ کھیلا تھا۔
