Is it because of indus river? Kashmir is indeed beautiful but I think pakistan's water lifeline is kashmir. If Azad kashmir was a part of india we probably would have seen very little indus water coming our way.
The issue though is why aren't we happy with whatever kashmir we have, why do we want the rest of it?
Pakistan have tried a couple of operations on kashmir after 1948 but failed and those operations invited full scale war.
In 1965 our military planned mission gibralter and hoped that kashmiri locals and mujahideens there will rise up against the oppressive indian regime there but to their disappointed nothing like that happened and pakistani forces had to retreat and also had to fight a full scale war against india.
In 1999 4 generals planned the kargil mission which was also very ill planned , there was no way to sustain our occupation in those regions with extreme difficulty in supply lines. Our NLF(northern light forces) went into indian region and made 196 camps before the indians finally knew that we are there. Their fighter jetsdestroyed our supply lines by destroying the roads leading to the camps. Our men fought there starving and when finally when our military generals realized that not only is this impossible but also a full scale war is imminent with india mobilizing their artillery ,airforce and navy they ordered the NLF jawans backs who in the process lost a lots of lives. We didnt even bring back a lot of our martyrs bodies back.
After kargil i dont think we are going to try that again.
