Why calls from overseas are still expensive?

Hi Guys, I was wondering that to my knowledge our govt. took its notice back of raising taxes on international phone calls. But I'm still paying quite much amount whenever I call home. I call from the internet (Voip). If someone has some information regarding the issue or any software to call cheaply to Pakistan that would be much appreciated. Thanks

this is because we overseas Pakistani's are stupid i request to all overseas Pakistani's stop entertaining these so-called leaders in UK,USA and Arab countries see how quickly they think about you other wise they make us fool every time and take the money from our pockets and forget you when they go back in Pakistan. 95% people are giving money to these crooks just for photo session.

Use skype. Subscription . I am getting less than 5 US Cents cost per minute if I buy 800 Min subscription.

Don't think why people are thinking Imran as a Quick fix for every thing. I agree he may take some time. As it might not be high priority.
I pray for his arrival in PM Office first.

Whaaaaat???? They are still expensive. Use GoogleVoice+IPKall+IPTel solution and use any SIP application on your mobile device to receive calls. To make calls, use vonage or use Google voice callback feature. Vonage apps also give free USA and Canada calls.

Expensive? Mate, the box is $30 a pop and it uses Google Service(which is free) for its calls. You get a US number, along with an IPhone and Android app, plus their web-based portal for centralized management of multiple devices.

It will work in Pakistan? I doubt.. PTA blocks most of the Voip devices (like magic jack).. I think Google voice is not free from Pakistan...

Because this issue is dead now. no body is talking about it. even i saw in news, pakistani met chief justice in haram sharif & they ask him to take somoto & he promise with them.but nothing happened. in all type of media, this issue is not discussing.so nothing will happen. if we want it to reduce it so we should make alive this issue. I know 2 guys using it from Khi and ISL. It even works from KSA. Getting a google account may be a bit touch as it requires a US registered number. But if u want it personally, maybe i can get a google voice account for ya.

PTCL is the only one blocking it. However, I'm using google voice sip service with port 5070 on PTCL. Only port 5060 is blocked

Use "VIBER" its totally free of cast just you need Android App at both ends,,,i am using it from Oman to Pakistan.
