In this day and age, many Islamic scholars believe that to start/end Ramadan new moonsighting be done by a naked eye as that is what used to be done during the time of the Prophet’s (PBUH).
But that is also true that during that time prayers’ time used to be determined by looking at a shadow of an object. So why now for prayers’ timing we rely on calculations and to determine start/end of Ramadan we have to revert to the naked eye?
Wasn't watching a New moon by a naked eye, or looking at the shadow of an object was to ensure that time was correct for the stated purpose?
