Historical Picture:President Ford and Nusrat Bhutto

Supposedly huge scandal back in the day.

I have read about the incident, but always doubted it till I saw the picture.

Back in the day, these photos were dropped as leaflets by the IJI media cell. It was spearheaded by Hussain Haqqani, whose services were obtained by Nawaz Sharif at the time. One of the many ways in which they played dirty politics with personal lives of the Bhutto clan.

Why would anyone be shocked with such a picture. Everyone knows that Nusrat Bhutto and many in Pakistan were a bit broad minded and don't see anything wrong with it, it is a slow dance. Most of the people in Pakistan however do and this is a bit awkward for us. Bhutto's were not hypocrites. Now there are Leaders whose families in public are with dopatta's and chaddars and these Leaders destroy marriages of Officers serving them. For some people a girl sitting in University in same classroom or in cafeteria or on the University lawn doing gup shup with guys is a shocker and for some it is something normal. You cannot hold people to your own standard.

I always though he dropped pictures of Benazir from her Oxford days in a Nude French beach.
I thought this was pamphlets from 76-77 nau sitaray time . Maybe it was both and or he reprocessed earlier material.

You are right. It would be a non issue today.

You are right. It would be a non issue today.
Back then strangely we were both more and less conservative as a society in different ways.

1) Military intelligence (ISI) put its weight behind her opponents in the Muslim League and main religious parties. They airdropped leaflets showing an old photograph of her mother in a cocktail dress dancing with President Gerald Ford. They referred to mother and daughter as “gangsters in bangles”
