He has worked for IMF for several years before being appointed as SBP governor.
If State Bank doesn't meet political objectives such as inflation or GDP growth then politicians do need to have a right to get rid of the governor. Afterall State/Central Bank person is considered as a PEP (Politically Exposed Person).SBP should be autonomous and free from Daku politicians influence. In past we saw how Nawaz Daku and Dollar Dar destroyed our economy by directing SBP to print more notes and spend 22 billions to artificially maintain the dollar. While makingbit autonomous there should be mechanism for accountability and secrutiny.
The SBP's independence is not a bad thing if the governor of the bank is loyal to Pakistani interests and doesn't take orders from IMF. If this turns out to be an actual scenario then there is no harm in making SBP independent.
99% of Pakistani politicians are criminals and crooks. They can even sell their mother for money and you are advising to keep these institutions under matric fail politicians ?If State Bank doesn't meet political objectives such as inflation or GDP growth then politicians do need to have a right to get rid of the governor. And so is the general population. And you are saying to let crooks run central bank. That is far more dangerous than politicians.99% of Pakistani politicians are criminals and crooks. But chances are very low as governor has always worked for IMF and has a history of working for them. The SBP's independence is not a bad thing if the governor of the bank is loyal to Pakistani interests and doesn't take orders from IMF. I totally agree with your commentsBut chances are very low as governor has always worked for IMF and has a history of working for them.
