There are possibilities that it can become scam as its only a software and there is no govt.regulation involved. But now bigger and larger companies are using digital currencies to raise funds for new projects or startup projects.that will give it legitimacy.

Caution:
Bitcoin is now out of reach of commoner, and there is no point in investing in bitcoin for a good ROI.
As far as investment is concerned, PoW based altcoins (those which have good market cap but low price and low transaction fees) are best for investment.
For example, bitcoin raised 1400% this year
Litecoin price increased by 3000% this year alone, this coin is more mature than Bitcoin (Litecoin never experience forking the way Ethereum and Bitcoin are doing every year).
Monero has gone up by 2000% in this year.
Caution:

This guy doesn’t know much about Bitcoin....very confused and gave some wrong descriptions as well...no exchanges physically exit rather you can but it from bitcoin.com, Bitcoin wallet or any other reliable regulator like IBM’s Blockchain etc. However, Satoshi Nakamoto probably a Japanese is founder of Bitcoin. It’s important to know that No one owns Bitcoin.
