Good News for the nation, major reserves of natural oil found by Mari Petroleum

KARACHI: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) along with its Joint Venture Partner Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has made an oil discovery at exploratory well in Punjab.

The discovery was made at Dharian-l ST-3, drilled in Ghauri, near Gujar Khan in Rawalpindi District.

It is 2nd consecutive discovery by the Ghauri Joint Venture in Ghauri Block.

The well was spud-in on December 21 , 2017 and drilled down to the depth of 4,770m MD/ 4,472m TVD with the objective to test the hydrocarbon potential of Sakessar and Khewra.

The Drill Stem Tests carried out in Khewra Formation flowed 372 barrels of crude oil @ 64/64" choke size having API gravity of 29° and WHFP 10-25 psi.

The Ghauri JV is planning to undertake expeditious evaluation of Dharian-l ST-3 discovery by putting it on test production.

The first ever discovery in Ghauri Block was made at exploratory well Ghauri X-I in 2014, which is currently on production. Ghauri JV intends to drill 3rd exploratory well namely Miraj-l as part of its continuous efforts for tapping indigenous hydrocarbon resources.

MPCL is the Operator of Ghauri Exploration License having 65% working interest share with PPL as 35 percent intrest holder.

Plz see the above article, it clearly states that the well flew 372 Bbl during Drill Stem Test (DST). It is not a full scale production.

But this is a test well. These wells are just drilled to see the formation and any potential of oil. When an oil reserve is reached, then either the capacity of the same well is increased or other wells besides are drilled in the same channel.

People like you misled Imran Khan and he started jumping like a rubber ball and said to the media we got a jack pot from the sea.

اس کے علاوہ کے پی کے میں الگ کام چل رہا ہے۔۔پنجاب کی دریافت تو سامنے ہی ہے۔۔
غرض یہ کہ۔۔اپنا ملک اوپر سے نیچھے تک معدنیات کا ذخیرہ ہے۔۔ بس اس پر پہلے توجہ نہیں دی گئ۔
اس کے علاوہ انہوں نے عراق کے ایک علاقے میں بھی کامیابی کے ساتھ تیل کا کنواں نکالا ہے۔۔

No body said it will change the economy but this is good news.It may lead to more discoveries.At least it has proved the oil is present in the area and there may be more oil.We don't have geoscidntistd,technology and money to find oil and gas.Pakistan has plenty of oil and gas but it has not been explored yet.
