People are busy trying to earn perks and browny points rather than taking things seriously and studying them for their purpose. There is no deeni education just secular and mazhabi education.
If people want deeni education they first of all need to ask themselves why? Because education has to serve a purpose for a person as well as society in general.
just as secular education is taken as education to get a good job in the job market the religious education is taken to serves the same purpose eg be a haafiz so you get a job in some masjid or madrassa etc for teaching hifz or reading quran during taraveeh or khatme quran etc.
Education is not taken as a foundation for bringing about a good human society. Once all people take education for that purpose things will take the turn for the better. A good look at the needs of society would then help decide what people should be taught and why. We will therefore start teaching those subjects or such kind of knowledge to people as will be needed by the society for the society and the individual in the society.
This is what should decide the context of education not various self serving professional organisations be they religious or secular. All this then therefore will be termed islamic education.
