[h=2]Young doctors in Shangla boycott OPD over nonpayment of salary[/h]
SHANGLA: Young doctors in tehsil headquarters hospital, Bisham, on Friday boycotted the out-patients department, demanding immediate payment of their withheld salary.
The Shangla chapter of Young Doctors Association had called the strike. The boycott of OPD created difficulties for patients.
Hanifullah, YDA local president, told Dawn that they had not received salary for last six months because of which they were facing financial problems.
The district finance department demanded Rs 60,000 as commission from me for releasing my salary for last six months which I denied. Now, my salary has been stopped without any reason, forcing us to come onto the roads, lamented Hanifullah.
He said over 100 young doctors had been performing duty without stipend for last six months in various hospitals of the district.
Dr Sanaullah, YDA local general secretary, said if their demand was not met by Monday they would boycott all the indoor services except emergency in the hospital. He said the young doctors would also demonstrate in front of the provincial assembly building against the injustice.
The doctors demanded action against the commission mafia in the local finance department. They said the government should also announce a proper service structure for them. They said security arrangements should be made at the tehsil headquarters hospital.
