Following the defeat in the election of Senate’s chairman and deputy-chairman at the hands of political rivals, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif has termed PTI chief Imran Khan and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari ‘two sides of the same coin’.
Addressing a public gathering at Sangla Hill in Nankana Sahib District of Punjab on Sunday, the former prime minister said Zardari and Khan were deceiving the masses through the hollow slogans of new Pakistan, Express News reported.
“These people [Zardari and Imran] are pawns and pawns can’t be sincere with the masses,” said Sharif and claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senators voted for Pakistan Peoples Party candidate in Senate polls.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz said that the faces of conspirators and string-puppets were being unmasked as the forthcoming general elections approached.“How will they face the public with general elections are just weeks away from now … ‘beloved’ would say we are here after selling our votes for money and the ‘favorite one’ would say we bought the votes,” she said referring to Imran and Zardari respectively.
The PML-N leader said votes given to the PTI chief will go to the box of Zardari and vice versa, adding that the bitter rivals of the past have joined hands out of fear of lion – the electoral symbol of PML-N.Despite the opponents’ apparent victory, Nawaz Sharif came out victorious in Senate election, said Maryam, adding that no one takes suo motu notice for contempt of the people here, in an apparent jibe at the superior judiciary of the country.
