Will Army take a backseat & be a mere spectator in Panama leaks fiasco ?

Panama leaks have shook the world, and many of countries have started inquiries against the accused. Prime minister of iceland has been forced to resign by the people and opposition forces of the country. And there are protests and investigations going on many countries...


In Pakistan, the ruling party is trying to portray it as a world & PTI conspiracy against it. To divert attention from the topic they tried to bring Imran Khan and SKMH into it, and started to accuse them - so that whole Panama leaks blame could be shifted as a fight between PML(N) & PTI. PPP & MQM have been apparently demanding PM resignation as well, but today there was a news in circulation that PPP won't demand any resignation until the investigation in complete. So PPP & MQM are just increasing their bargaining chips, so that they can benefit maximum from the whole affair.


This will leave PTI alone (like in dharnas time), so in the end they will be doing protests and prepare to march towards Raiwind estate. This all could go very very wrong - given the fragile security situation. Once there is a big tragedy, things could easily get out of hand - and Army will have to intervene.


Yesterday, I read a news snippet about a statement from COAS. He said something like


We will not allow anyone to create turbulence in any part of Pakistan: Raheel Sharif (http://paktribune.com/news/We-will-...ny-part-of-Pakistan-Raheel-Sharif-276118.html)


Does the above statement mean that Army is giving message to everyone (including PTI) to keep quite and not do any protests over Panama leaks? Because if PTI comes on road in Punjab there is a 100% chance of turbulence being created - and even worse.

Army & Pakistan simply cannot afford another full coup, where democracy is taken away. The only solution is a soft coup scenario / inhouse change where all the elite class (who have their wealth stashed abroad) are made accountable. Those who have assets only in Pakistan are allowed to rule us. I am sure there are many deserving people in the ruling party as well. Atleast such people will have their first priority as Pakistan - because they will know that they have nothing else to go besides Pakistan.


In Pakistan everyone knows that politicians have strong link to judiciary and there is no expectation of fair trial (the same reason why Army was forced to create Army courts for terrorists). Is Army just wanting to be a mere spectator in whole fiasco? Even after Panama leaks, do they want our next generations to suffer under elite class whose own property is outside Pakistan - but they come on vacation to rule us?


Or will Army take the driving seat and do a soft coup i.e. instrucing & forcing FIA / NAB and Judiciary to start unbiased inquiry over Panama leaks and all kinds of financial terrorism that has lead Pakistan into this state.

Either embrace the army or bell the cat yourself. Cant have the army do the real work and then have IK fanboys claiming that its was all because of IK's awesome leadership.

There are alot of corrupt generals in the Army, that is why they backed Mota Nawaja
all the way. The Army feels comfortable when they have corrupt people like Zardari or

Army has a long history of intervention since the creation of Pakistan. They always intervene with full force when there is no other option left. So they again want to interrupt when Pakistan is on verge of bankruptcy (both morally & financially). Army's direction intervention has proved to be bad for the country, as its a known fact that Army is not good at governance (as its not their job) - but the corrupt politicians they leave as replacement are even worse in governance.

The state Pakistan is in, is direct responsibility of Army. Musharraf who was all-in-all before he left as President, gave gift of NRO to the country. Due to this NRO, Zardari n Sharif family were able to sneak into the government. So, Army is 100% directly responsible for this mess we are in. And now Army is taking a backseat and just acting like an observer in the whole scenario.

As far as IK is concerned, is financial corruption done by Sharif family a matter of concern for PTI or is it a matter of concern for the whole country that someone has (allegedly) taken their tax money outside of Pakistan. IK has correctly said that its the best chance for Pakistan to capture this ruling elite and do their accountability.

But who can do that? Judiciary - who have strong links to politicians?? Opposition - where we have recently seen that even 120 days sitin won't do anything unless all opposition is on one side. Even in Dharnas time, all parties except IK were with PML(N) because in the end corrupts have similar interests. We can easily expect the same this time. Army - Army has already shown that its still the true power and have done anything they want in Nawaz tenure. Zarb-e-Azb, anti terror counts, Sindh operation etc are examples of this.

So the only real deal in this whole scenario is Army - who can help Pakistan get out of this mess of ruling elite class whose business interests lie outside the country. Pakistan cannot change in one day - but the 1st step towards prosperity is by kicking out those who have interests out of country. There will still be corruption - but of less magnitude as the rulers will realize that their destination even after their rule is over is still Pakistan.

Yes ofcourse, we the keyboard warriors are the most honest / pious people sitting in Pakistan, while everyone else is corrupt...

The point to understand is that the overall morality level of the nation is at the lowest point. From the top echelon to the lowest echelon, there are other corrupt people present in every segment of the society. Be it a mosque, school, university, government department or army etc. there may be some element of corruption in it. By large in a organized institution like Army, the element of corruption is less than others.

To get rid of corruption, the start has to come from somewhere. Everyone knows the authority of a COAS (whether its a civilian govt or a dictator's rule). So simply if Army has the will they can kick start the accountability against the corrupt at the highest level. Once these parasites are gone (the ones who keep on filling their own coffers, while country keeps on getting under the burden of debt), things will start to get better. There is no magic stick to get rid of corrupt element in a flash. The only way is to kickstart it - and time will take its course.

Pakistan had couple of really golden opportunities to start this process in recent times:

The first one was after the lawyer's movement when CJ was restored. The CJ was as powerful as a COAS at that time - and had he started accountability at all levels Pakistan would have been on right path by now.

The 2nd God gifted opportunity is Panama leaks. If Army and sincere people of Pakistan let this opportunity also go by- than we would be in even a bigger mess.

Some people, who are known as ruling elite of Pakistan, are (allegedly) taking tax-payers money out of Pakistan to fill their own coffers - and this is not a matter of National security to you?

Just e.g. How do these terrorist networks grow? Take any example of any country - and you will always find these terrorist having backing from corrupt rulers - because such corrupt rulers give them money & these kind of terrorists give them surety of keeping everything under their control.

Financial terrorism is definitely one of the biggest National security crimes..
