I thank you alot Asif Ameer for this wonderful post, I have bee watching TED events since 2010, but I think I have missed this phenomenal speech of Naill Furgosun. The ideas and thought in this speech gives you great inside in the shape of world in which we are living today. Great points presented connected with history...(clap)

This short speech is based on Niall's 432 page book. Then BBC made a 4 hour long documentary summarizing this book. Then he further summarized it in 20 min. Ab is se zyada kya summary ho gi yaar..? I suggest you watch it.. 20 mins would be time very well spent.

I think i got it from Pirate bay.. was 2 torrents (part 1 and part 2). U can download it from there. or wait.. I think BBC or PBS too may have it on their site.. I have gone thru 1/4 of the documentary and its jaw dropping..
Did you know there were MAJOR Fatwas against Printing Pressing and printed material in the Muslim world till the 1800s? Only hand written Books were allowed...
When I heard that, I thought to myself that I have never seen a hand-written Holy Quran in my life.. Every Quran is printed.. Infact, the Quran I primarily use is actually on my kindle.
Now I hear there's a fatwa against taking pictures and making videos... Amazing!

The Kangxi emperor arranged a fleet of 1000 ships, somewhere around 1500AD... largest build up seen until WWII... The Ottomans at that time were also a super power, Michio Kaku said if an alien came down to earth at that time and if someone asked him who would be the super powers on earth in 2012? he would have said obviously the Chinese and the Ottomans... What happened after that? The emperor Burned down his fleet and lost interest in what was happening outside his country, same with the Ottomans they became short sighted and only looked inside their borders. Where as the Westerners always looked outwards.
