Nov 22: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab Information Secretary Dr Fakhruddin Chaudhry has asked the Punjab government to justify spending Rs300 million from exchequer on the development of Raiwind estate of the Sharif brothers.
At a press conference on Monday, Dr Chaudhry said that of the Rs300 million, Rs70 million were spent on a telephone exchange with 200 telephone lines, Rs80 million on water courses leading to Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharifs Raiwind farm, Rs70 million on a gas supply project and Rs80 million on roads.
The information secretary said though the PPP government had not registered any corruption case against them as part of its reconciliation policy, PML-N leaders should justify the spending of tax payers money on the development of their estate.
He said that Nawaz Sharif on record having said that his government had registered fake cases against Asif Ali Zardari on the pressure of certain forces. He urged Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to quash the cases against President Zardari after Mr Sharifs revelations. He also asked Nawaz Sharif to seek forgiveness from the nation for fake cases against Mr Zardari that kept him in jail for 11 years.
He also said the Punjab government was running on a stay order and the Lahore High Court chief justice should take note of it. Staff Reporter
