all these people operated against each other at times.

Yes they disagreed with each other 'at times', but their main agenda was to act cohesively to divide Pakistan, separate East Pakistan and create a Punjabi majority Pakistan. Bhutto being a Sindhi was a convenient political tool for being used by the Punjabi army for this purpose. Ayub Khan and the Army groomed Bhutto with the same idea. It was also the reason why the capital was shifted away from Karachi.

I don't think its that simple, Ayub tried his level best to remove Bhutto from the scene. Yahya crushed Ayub mercilessly. Bhutto and Yahya were at each other throats and Bhutto had a role in Yahya's downfall. The quip about Islamabad is also misleading as Ayub came very close to announcing an area near Abbottabad as capital but the area was rejected due to some technical difficulties in the last stage (I don't recall the name atm).

Differences betweeen different kinds of Punjabi

Yahya crushed Ayub mercilessly. Bhutto and Yahya were at each other throats and Bhutto had a role in Yahya's downfall.

But Yahya sent Bhutto to make his famous speech in the UN where he vowed to fight for a thousand years, tore up the Poland resolution and made sure that Pakistan would surrender to India the next day. Before that when surrender was inevitable Yahya evacuated Bhutto's friend the war-criminal Tikka Khan from East Pakistan and had him replaced by Niazi. Above all Yahya and the Army allowed Bhutto to campaign under the slogan 'idhar hum, udhar tum' in Punjab which was a sure-shot formula of dividing Pakistan. Moreover Bhutto's party in Punjab was supported by the most treacherous and Pakistan-hating Punjabis like Ghulam Mustafa Khar, Aitzaz Ahsan and Asma Jehangir. When Bhutto fell from the Army's favour after the 1976 elections they hanged him and that is the basic Sindhi grievance against Punjabis and the reason why only Peoples Party can win from rural Sind. But whilst Bhutto was alive he was very much a Punjabi stooge.

I am not misleading anyone. The Punjabi Army wanted a capital in Rawalpindi and wanted to exclude Mohajirs and East Pakistanis from participation in government so they shifted the capital to Islamabad in Punjab. No military dictator has the right to shift the capital on his own whim. I have not seen it happening anywhere else in the world. If now you have suddenly remembered that the capital was to go to Abbottabad, I cannot comment.


Regarding the differences between Bhutto and the Punjabi Establishment: Do you remember that there were differences even between Nawaz Sharif and Gen Asif Janjua? Bad-kirdar, mutassib aur corrupt logo main aapas main differences to hotay hee hain. When Janjua died his psychotic wife Nuzhat Asif even accused Nawaz of killing him. Yet, when Janjua was alive he was Nawaz Sharif's favourite General massacring Karachiites, occupying Karachi, making MQM haqiqi, discovering fabricated conspiracies by MQM, torturing anyone found to be voting for MQM ( which includes the whole of Karachi). Therefore these differences between Janjua and Nawaz were insignificant. What was more important was the common agenda of destroying MQM's vote-bank which they tried to achieve...
