Protesters say that Mr Rigi was a hero Demonstrations have taken place in Pakistan's port city of Karachi against the hanging of a militant leader by Iran.
Abdolmalek Rigi was head of the Jundullah militant group.
It says that it is fighting for the rights of minority Sunni Muslims in Iran's Sistan-Baluchistan province.
Iranian authorities say the group is involved in dozens of deadly attacks, including one which killed 40 members of the Revolutionary Guard in 2009.
Impoverished province Iran says the group, which operates out of Pakistan's Balochistan province, has the support of Pakistani, US and British intelligence agencies.

"Abdolmalek Rigi's only fault was that he spoke for the rights of the Baloch," Abdul Wahab Baloch, who led the demonstration, told the BBC.
Mr Baloch is a leader of the Baloch National Front, an alliance fighting for the rights of the impoverished province.
He was speaking as demonstrators holding posters of Mr Rigi stood by, chanting anti-Iranian slogans.
Mr Baloch said that Mr Rigi was a Baloch hero.
"Jundullah is a Baloch nationalist organisation - it has wrongly been labelled a sectarian group," he said.
"It is fighting for the rights of the Baloch in Iran, which is a largely Shia country.
"That is why we have been called a Sunni group."
Mr Baloch said that Iran had used large-scale repression to crush the Baloch.
"At least 700 Baloch have been hanged in Iran during the last two years," he said.
"They include religious leaders, politicians and intellectuals."
He said his party was in touch with Jundullah and they planned to launch a united front in both Pakistan and Iran.
"We are fighting both Iran and Pakistan for our rights and control of our land," he added.
Nationalist groups in Pakistan have been a thorn in the side of the government for several years.
However, this is the first time they had expressed solidarity with secessionist groups in Iran.

Because Iran has killed their front man. They were using him to destabilize Iran and Pakistan (in Baluchistan). We have our own problems in Baluchistan but foreign agencies are adding fuel to the fire.

The reality is even more grave. Foreign agencies are not just adding fuel to fire, they are actually igniting fires, adding fuel, aiding and abetting. Doing all they can to destablize and disintegrate Pakistan. Locals are certainly playing into their hands for whatever motives, financial, political or otherwise.

I am baffled at why were these protestors were not arrested at the first place? Anyone who supports terrorists must not be let lose, we cannot allow terrorists to be labeled as martyrs it will be an insult to our soldiers who gave their lives in this war

Well if you closely monitor their news, you will find purposefully spiced up and orchestrated media campaign against Pakistan. One should expect such sort of reporting from a company which has fame for working in unison with MI-6. For instance, you will find much focus on Baloch Liberation in Pakistan and Iran, which is stirred up by both Britain and USA. The same China containment policy. Similarly they will malign our international image by interviewing the dissident groups. By showing that Pakistan is behind Afghan insurgency, they constantly add on the Zionist / Neocon agenda to defame and then defang Pakistan. By broadcasting Salman Rushdie's interviews on BBC Urdu service, they are deliberately desensitizing us on Blasphemy issue. Unlike us they are loyal to their country and her policies.

We should never forget the true motives of such agencies disguised as news channels, they are just extensions of the foreign policies. If we look back in history we will see their role in 1965 when it was announced officially by the BBC that "the indian army has now taken control of city of Lahore and they are having their evening tea at the Gymkhana." If you look inot thier archives you will find it there or you may ask some of your older reletives who were a witness to this blatant lie by the so called world service, disregarding the loss to their reputation they were ready to malign and injure Pakistan and Pakistanis in any way possible and aid and abbett india( which always needs to be babysitted by west!).

1965, we are talking of cold war era when pakistan had tilt towards west unlike India so why would an independent channel like BBC (even if we assuming for the sake of argument that it is a british govt. mouthorgan) would tell a blatant lie and aid and abet India against pakistan....strange isn't it?
India needs baby sitting by west that is the reason it is not in favour of any third party involvement in Kashmir unlike pakistan who wants to involve west (us, uk, etc.)

Why don't you ask the BBC for this .I am only informing you of what took place for a fact. Ofcourse following your national tradition you can deny it and say it never happened but then who can be sure of anything especially if one gets into the habit of denying and decieving and meddling in places they have no business.
Of course india is being baby sitted by the west who take 2 days to carry out referendum in Indonesia but because india is well aware of the loss so west is abetting it by not championing the cause of Kashmir
although it is the oldest agenda on the UN table. Riding piggy back is the new way to go forward!!

I can understand that it is hard for you to digest that BBC was not lying. You need to come out of your denial mode, sooner the better. The fact is Indian forces did enter Lahore and you can check with truth speaking elders on your side.

Again your arguments are naive. Why would west abet India regardless of India winning or losing the referendum? This problem is more than 62 years old and India during the cold war period never had the west tilt. As far as UN is concerned it is out of picture after the Shimla agreement and it is pakistan who is riding piggy back by trying to involve west as third party on the Kashmir issue.

Read my post again, I never said that India captured Lahore, capturing any territory was never the goal. Remember India didn't attack and only retaliated in '65.
Regarding the gymkhana tea I am not aware, will find out if that is true. Anyway tea is not a big deal, pakistan is known for its hospitality. Will you be not offering tea if I visit pakistan? ;)
