When the news of Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood being appointed Governor Punjab broke a couple of days ago it was seen as a major coup for the PPP in South Punjab. So why was it such a big deal? Who is this Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood and why does it matter is he is appointed the governor of Punjab?

My wild guess. He was from PMLN-F. Functional league has presence in Sindh and southern Punjab. The local govt. fiasco in Sindh has united nationalist and the rest of Sindhi parties to form an anti-ppp alliance. This is part of breaking that unholy alliance plus get more sympathies towards South Punjab. Nothing more than a dirty political game to play right cards at the right time.I think that will back fire big time for PPP. They have the two highest posts in Punjab given to non PPP person. Jiyalas are jiyalas not stupid. They know its no longer the party of Bhuttos. At least Bhuttos made unholy alliances but workers came always first.
