ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the government will remove the Supreme Courts reservations on the Karachi situation.


Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday he said the interim order of the Supreme Court on the law and order situation in Karachi would be implemented.

The minister said that Karachi has become a centre of Taliban activities while action against the Taliban was continuing. He said, We should highlight those matters which are not in the knowledge of the Supreme Court.

To a question Malik said some people were released on parole during the previous governments tenure. He said action should be taken against them.

To another a question he said collective efforts were needed to resolve the Balochistan issue. Malik said he would give a detailed briefing to the Supreme Court on Balochistan. He said the attackers of Malala would be nabbed soon.

Announcing the Sitara Shujaat for Kayanat and Shazia, two friends of Malala, the minister said that it was his duty to announce the Sitara Shujaat for anyone who does service for the development of the country.

He said that Malalas parents did not talk about political asylum and they talked to the British High Commission about a long-term visa.

Malik said that he had ordered the IG that if his brother was involved in any illegal work he should be arrested. He said that all illegal prepaid SIMS would be abolished.

Regarding the actions on the Asghar Khan case, Malik stated, the N-League has reservations over an investigation being done by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). However, we will take action according to the directions of Supreme Court.

We all have to believe in the government agencies and our Constitution. We are waiting for the detailed judgment on Asghar Khans case and will take action without discrimination, he added.

Talking about the threat of the Taliban in Karachi, Malik said the government has not stopped any action against the Taliban.

ویسے ایم کیو ایم نے طالبان کے مقابلے زیادہ لوگ مارے ہیں۔ طالبان کا تو عشرہ بھی ختم نہیں ہوا مگر یہ دہشت گرد تو کئ عشروں سے قتل و غارت کے دھندے میں ہیں۔

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Saturday that the government would move in accordance with the interim order of the Supreme Court on the law and order situation in Karachi and take action against the Taliban in the city.
Talking to reporters, he said Karachi was turning into a stronghold of the Taliban and some measures against them had already been initiated.
He said the government would address the apex courts reservations on the situation in Karachi but added that some aspects of the reasons behind the law and order problem would also be brought to its notice.
Answering a question about the Asghar Khan case, he said action would be taken without any discrimination after the announcement of the detailed verdict. He welcomed a statement by Nawaz Sharif in which the PML-N leader said he was ready to face the FIA probe in the case.
Mr Malik said collective efforts were needed to resolve the issue of Balochistan, adding he would give a detailed briefing to the Supreme Court on the crisis in the province.
Mr Malik said Attaullah and Ehsanullah Hussain, who allegedly attacked Malala Yousufzai, would be captured soon.
Sitara-i-Shujaat
Announcing Sitara-i-Shujaat for Kainat and Shazia, the girls were also wounded during the attack on Malala, the minister said it was his duty to announce the gallantry award for anyone who did any service for the development of the country.
In reply to a question, he said Malalas parents had requested the British High Commission for a long-term visa and not political asylum.
The minister said that he had asked Inspector General of Police to arrest his brother (Khalid Malik) if he was found involved in any illegal activity. Khalid Malik was reportedly among those who attacked Mr Wajihuzzaman, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, in Islamabad on Thursday.
