Khan just proved yesterday that not only he knows politics but he is too good at it!! ? ? ?

It's beyond doubt that this budget was going to be tough, but the perfect timing of his speech and announcement of the commission will ensure that the nation will swallow the bitter pill without leaving a bad taste behind!

#1: Media: He has provided our news-hungry media enough content other than the Budget! Media was going to spread big hopelessness in the nation regarding budget despite knowing the significance and bounds of the decisions taken in the budget

#2: Opposition: Opposition is in complete disarray now! They don't know whether to run Abbu Bachao Mohem, anti-government campaign or an anti-budget campaign. In their chaos, the government will silently pass the budget too.

#3: Nation: They've lost even the last remaining cent of trust in Opposition. Even if the opposition will look to speak for the public concern, their intention will always be doubted! With the world cup going on, NAB arrests/proceedings and SJC proceedings, they have enough on the plate to entertain them. So they won't take out time to cry about a meager Rs. 100/month increase in their expense!

#4: Lawyers Movement: Completely perished by creating conflicts within their ranks!

Lastly, I congratulate all PAKISTANIS. You have a leader today that is super smart and super selfish about his Nation!

Agree with your assessment. I would like more serious crackdown on corrupt politicians though. We voted for IK to put them behind the bars and not lower tomatoes or onion prices only.

Yeah you are right but this year seems to be last year for the government, incase if they will not achieve there set targets of high taxes, reduce circular debt, reduce balance of payment etc, they will loose confidence by Establishment, and the day they loose confidence this weak opposition will come strong on them and it will be very hard to stand considering narrow majority in both National and Punjab assembly. They have to perform this year untill June 2020, there is no other option.

I think its way too early to claim victory on the budget fiasco. It has been just few hours since the budget speech.

Wait for the response from the media, opposition and people within next few days, and then you can re-assess.

In my opinion, the timing of Zardari's arrest is wrong. This will give PPP and PMLN opportunity to get united under the umbrella of budget, inflation and taxes to pressurise the release of Zardari and NS. Now please don't say that Khan does not get pressured. SS being the head of PAC is the example.

Realistically speaking, it won't happen. This will be the toughest year, but 2020 will be tough too. A common man should expect their life to start witnessing improvement from 2021. I'm not being pessimist, I'm just telling you the reality!

Just to give you some context, it took Musharaf 4 years to fix the mess of political governments left in the 90's. And the situation back then was not as bad as it is today. He had to run Pakistan's lowest GDP growth of 2%, the worst unemployment rate of 8%. It was not until reforms were complete by 2003 that Pakistan's economy started to boom again! But the asshole gave NRO to these Kanjars who ate all his hard work in no time!

Trust me, though it might look bad, but Khan is already doing miracles in minimizing the effects of the slump! I would have bet a fortune that GDP would actually grow <2% this year and next year and inflation would hit 15-20% (It hit upto 22% during Musharaf's recovery phase).

And do what exactly? They can't even gather 100 people to protest, the public left them long time ago from the days of "Rok Sako to Rok Lo" tehreek. If they leave the parliament Khan gets to call fresh elections and goes in for the kill. In short they cant do anything but hold placards of GO NIAZI Go thats it
