Pakistan’s former bowling great Wasim Akram was attacked during his post-match analysis on national TV. Akram who was speaking on India’s 6-wicket victory over Australia at Mohali in Match No.31 at Mohali, was seen to be in shock, when he noticed men coming in front of the camera and asking him to stand up. Akram was heard speaking about how Kohli constructed his innings when he was interrupted. The anchor himself was in shock as things transpired on live TV. Akram was already in a sad state of mind on hearing about the blasts that took place in Lahore earlier in the day.
Akram had earlier tweeted about the blasts and had ceased all his work commitments for the night, only to be seen live on a show on AAJTAK news channel. Earlier, Akram was ready to help get Pakistan cricket back on its feet but believed some members of the cricket board don’t want to see him doing this. There were reports that some members of the board of governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t want the Chairman to consult him in cricket matters including in the fresh appointments to be made after the World T20. Wasim said: “If some member (s) don’t want the Chairman to consult me or seek my advice on appointment of a new coach why is this, I think it is because they don’t want to see anything improve in our cricket,” Wasim said on Geo News channel.
