When the world celebrated this year the UN peacekeeping day, Pakistan stands tall in the comity of nations being second largest troops contributing country in the World.
Pakistans journey with UN peacekeeping operations began in 1960 when it deployed its first ever contingent in UN operations in Congo. Over past fifty two years Pakistan has been the most significant and consistent contributor for UN peacekeeping around the world. Pakistan has hitherto participated in 41 UN peacekeeping missions including some of the most challenging missions. Pakistan has so far contributed 142542 troops in the UN missions across the world. Up till now 128 Pakistani peacekeeper (10.24% of the UN total fatalities) has scarified their lives in noble cause of helping humanity, building peace and bringing stability across the regions under the banner of UN.
Since 2006 Pakistan has been the largest troops contributing country. At the moment Pakistan is the 2nd largest contributor with present deployment of 9461 peacekeepers in 7 different UN missions and is currently contributing 9.71% of the total UN peacekeepers strength.
Performance of Pakistan peacekeepers have been acknowledge worldwide by numerous world leader and the UN leadership. An undisputed professional standing of Pakistan peacekeepers has also made the passion of every Special Representative of Secretary General and Force Commander in each of UN peacekeeping mission.

Pakistan celebrated GOLDEN JUBILEE of its contributions to UN peacekeeping in July 2011. Currently, 9460 troops of Pakistan Army are engaged in 7 different peace keeping missions across three continents; i.e. Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Darfur, Western Sahara, East Timor and Haiti. Our commitment to global peace remains unwavering and steadfast. The performance of Pakistani peacekeepers has been acknowledged worldwide by numerous world leaders and the UN leadership. An undisputed professional standing of Pakistani peacekeepers has made them the passion of every Special Representative of Secretary General and Force Commander in each of UN Peacekeeping Mission.

Sacrifice for Peace
In pursuance of Pakistan Armys commitment towards global peace, 128 Pakistani soldiers have heretofore sacrificed their lives for global peace; almost two men per year. There is a lot good about Pakistan and it's people that is rarely mentioned amidst all the doom and gloom. We should highlight our positive contributions much more to give the world a greatly needed balanced view.

If the Ummat means anything at all then it's a pleasure to serve our sisters in places like Sudan.
