In an apparent effort to neutralize the growing popularity of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in Punjab, provincial chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced that he intends to bring back his foreign assets to Pakistan. "Chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to transfer his foreign in which his personal investment is not more than 18% and the rest of the amount is in the form of loans – back to Pakistan after selling them off and clearing all financial obligations," said Pervaiz Rashid, a spokesman for Sharif.

Imran Khan has been time and again targeting the chief minister and his elder brother, former premier and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, for having foreign assets.

Khan is reportedly gaining ground in Pakistan's most populous province of 90 million.

The Punjab government has also initiated several sports projects to counter Khan's moves.

Sources believe that Nawaz Sharif too will announce plans to bring back his foreign assets at an "appropriate time" to gain political mileage.

"The total size of foreign investments of the chief minister is not more than Rs 30 million, which were made by him while he was in exile in Britain. This was done to arrange finances for him and his family while he was being treated for a serious disease in London," said the spokesman.

After Shahbaz Sharif's return from Britain, no additional investments had been made, Rashid said.

"The process of selling off the chief minister's assets in Britain and paying off bank dues has already been started," he said.

The spokesman said Shahbaz Sharif launched the business in Britain simply to earn a living the difficult days of his exile "when dictator Pervez Musharraf made it virtually impossible for the Sharifs to earn their livelihood in Pakistan by applying a spate of nefarious tactics".

There will a one big test for him
Selling his flat or share of his flat at Park Lane

I don't think he is going to fulfill this promise, its just an eye wash...
IK should remind him his promise every other day.

You wrote my words.
His flat is in the same building with NS and it is worth atleast 3 million pounds or you can say 423 million rupees. If he wants to sale it for 3 crores I am ready to pay 3.25 crore rupees for it.
He should be ashamed on saying that his property in London is worth 3 crore rupees.
Whatever drama these sharif bros play we can not trust these fraudsters, realy chore haira pheri say na jaye.

Shahbaz decides to bring back foreign assets

LAHORE: A spokesman for the Sharif family on Tuesday said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharifs total foreign investment was not more than Rs 30 million and that this was made by Shahbaz while in exile in the United Kingdom to arrange finances for him and his family when he was under treatment for a serious ailment there.

The spokesperson said this in a letter in response to media queries about the details of the assets submitted by Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said the Punjab CM had decided to transfer his foreign assets (of which only 18 percent is personal investment while the rest is loans) back to Pakistan after selling them and paying off all financial obligations.

The spokespersons letter reads as follows:

There are certain views and comments aired and printed in a section of the press about the details of assets submitted by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Various questions have been raised in these views and comments about the foreign assets of the Punjab Chief Minister. The Sharif Family has already made it clear that total size of foreign investment of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is not more than Rs 30 million, which was made by him during the period of his exile in the United Kingdom to arrange finances for him and his family members when he was under treatment for a serious disease in London.

It may also be pointed out here that after his return from the UK; no addition has been made in this paltry investment. Moreover, the chief minister has also decided to transfer his foreign assets (in which his personal investment is not more than 18 percent and the rest of the amount is based on loans) back to Pakistan after selling them and paying of all financial obligations. In the light of this decision of the chief minister, the process of selling of his assets in the UK and paying of bank dues has already begun. Here, I would also like to address the question as to why Shahbaz Sharif launched this business in the UK. The simple answer is that he had to make it during the difficult time of his imposed exile when Dictator Pervez Musharraf made it virtually impossible for the Sharif Family to earn their livelihood by applying a spate of nefarious tactics. The details of despicable steps taken by the despot by putting economic stranglehold on the Sharif Family need not any repetition as details are already well known to people of Pakistan. I am hopeful that these submissions will provide a better understanding of the facts and you will be able to understand the truth in the light of its true perspective. (Courtesy: The News)
