یہ گراف اُن افراد کے لیے ہے جو یہ یقین رکھتے ہیں کہ پاکستان اپنا آدھے سے زیادہ بجٹ افواج پر خرچ کرتا ہے. یہ گراف سویڈن کے قابل احترام سیپری تھنک ٹینک کی طرف سے جاری کیا گیا ہے. 1988 سے 2015 کے درمیان پاکستان کا دفاعی بجٹ کم ہو کر شرح نمو کی تین فیصد یا اُس سے بھی کم رہ گیا ہے. پاکستان جنوبی و وسطی ایشیا میں بلحاظ فیصد تمام ممالک سے کم بجٹ دفاع پر خرچ کرتا ہے.

I argued with someone on this a few months ago to no avail. Its amazing the amount of cluelessness that exists in our public in general, and the kind of propagana that is spread by PMLN in this regard.


Actual military budget for Pakistan has averaged at around 6-8% of the GDP for a very long time. The highest it went was 12%, and that was for just one year, in the early Musharraf days.


The number manipulation that PMLN does usually involves including civil defense funding in the mix as well. Funds directed to Rangers and FC are routinely added to the military budget, even though these 2 are civilian departments.
Additionally, all funds received from the UN or US in relation to military assistance are also lumped into the same figures, even though a large chunk of those funds goes towards administrative costs run by the govt.


Finally, all through this, noone realizes that while they are quick to criticize military budget and expenses, but they never complain when military forces are called in to perform the function of civilian departments.....like floods, fires, maritime emergencies, internal security, muharram security, ramadan security, etc....stuff where our police fails.

it is correct. current GDP is $283.9 billion (nominal) if we talk about GDP PPP then it is $ 982 billion and military budge is $7 billion . calculate kar lo
but i personally think its not a correct thing to calculate military budget with respect to GDP . total budget of pakistan 2016 is almost $ 43 billion and military budget is $ 7 billion which is almost 16 %

رہی بات نون کی انہیں عادت ہے جوتے کھانے کی ، پہلے پنگے لیتے ہیں جب ری ایکشن ہو تو جمہوریت کا رونا لے کے بیٹھ جاتے ہیں جس کا ستیاناس کرنے والے بھی خود ہیں ، اپنی پارٹی میں تو کبھی جمہوریت آنے نہیں دی اور ملک کو جمہوریت کی ڈگر پے چلانے کا دعوے صحیح الو بنایا ہے ہوا ہے عوام کو

The above graph is by Stockholm Peace Research Institute. They use international formulas, but unfortunately, they have to rely on muddled data from Pakistan bureau of Statistics. Its no surprise that they show a figure of 3%

Dont know where you got this from.

Musharraf did a trick. He moved army pensions and perks from defence budget to civilian budget. That significantly brought down the numbers.

Is the CSF fund or NATO assistance a part of the GDP?

16% of the budget goes to the army but 33% goes to servicing of loans.

If the budget is low than the men controlling our army have become douchebags!

If the budget is above 7-8% than the core army thinks wisely in worry some scenario.

I still believe that fouj as a whole takes more than half of the available money. If we do all the mathematics after servicing of debts and related stuff, including all "expenditures" of fouj and its subsidiries plus developement and other funds from their imperial masters, then I bet they are more than half of the available money.
